THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE I am coming around to two years behind on my treatment. They refuse to go ahead with my but also can’t provide me a periodontist therefore I’m getting nowhere. Their attitude is also very nasty.

My first time at KD in monroeville. I had no issues. My appointments were always on time, they called me back even before my time. I needed work done cause it was 4 years before I saw a dentist. I kept searching and no one took my insurance except Katsar Dental so I had to go with them. Most of the staff was very friendly, some barely spoke when they called my name, but that’s ok, maybe they were having a bad day. The front desk people were so nice and welcoming. I met with Dr Hummel, very nice, he did all my work that was needed. The only issue I had was the waiting in the exam room because he had emergency patients coming in so I had to wait a little. No problem, I completely understood. He apologized several times for the long wait. I really like him, I think he’s caring, I had three root canals done in one day, he was always asking if I was ok, or if was in pain once the novocaine was wearing off. He was very gentle and his assistants were pretty nice too. I would definitely go back to him when the time comes. Thanks Dr Hummel for bringing my smile back.

I do not recommend this place at all. Back in 2020 I got braces put on by them and I’ve always had trouble with this company. I only went back because they take my insurance. This is the second time they upset me to the point where I’m standing in the waiting room with tears running down my face. I haven’t got my teeth cleaned since I got my braces taken off about 3 years ago and I’m concerned for my teeth. It takes forever to get an appointment anywhere for a dentist. The original office I went to was in Greensburg and they shut down. So, I had to go to Monroeville I felt relief at first thinking maybe this office was better but I was 100% wrong. They considered me a “new patient” because someone didn’t do their job correctly when switching things over. They couldn’t find me in their system at all. I drove the whole way from Greensburg and left work early to go to this appointment that I been waiting 6 months for. Gas is almost 5 dollars a gallon & I told them I barely made it there to begin with. No one showed any care or sympathy. I had an appointment. I called to let them know I was running 10 minutes behind due to road work etc. My appointment was at 1 I walked in at 1:10. Which usually wouldn’t be an issue at any doctor’s office because you are always guaranteed a 15 minute window. Nobody emailed me my paperwork that needed to be filled out prior to the appointment. No one called to ask me my email address so they could send paperwork over. The dentist walked out and told me he wasn’t going to be able to take me. They close at 2 the dentist walked right past me while I’m crying & upset it was around 1:20-1:30 when he left which was plenty of time to see me. He wasn’t even the one doing my cleaning either he was doing an exam that takes 10 min or less. I’ve spent multiple times sitting in their old office almost an hr past my appointment time waiting for the dentist to see me but I was 10 min late & called to let them know & they made me reschedule. If anyone needs their teeth cleaned for May 26 @1:45 you can have my appointment I’m doing a no call no show. Since they want to waste my time I’ll gladly waste theirs. 0/10 I wouldn’t even give this place 1 star.

start with this: this place is filthy. There were crumbs all over the floor—and this isn’t even a restaurant. Cleanliness should be the bare minimum in a dental office, and they failed at that immediately.
I took my son in today after waiting 4–5 months for a follow-up appointment. We originally had appointments scheduled back in October and again in November/January, and both were canceled by the office. So when we finally get in today, this staff member—who was honestly one of the most unpleasant people I’ve ever dealt with—tells me he hasn’t been seen in five months like it’s somehow my fault. I calmly explained that I was aware, but they canceled twice.
That’s when everything went downhill.
She completely lost it—yelling, calling me a liar, and refusing to listen while I tried to explain that I even had voicemails proving what I was saying. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she escalated it into something hostile and disrespectful. She was calling me names like we were kids on a playground. It was shocking and honestly a little intimidating.
I’ll admit I got frustrated and dropped an F-bomb, which I’m not proud of—but her behavior was completely out of line and unprovoked. No patient (or parent) should be spoken to like that.
Then the doctor comes in and initially sides with her, without even hearing the full story. Only after I proved that the office canceled the appointments did anything shift—but even then, there was no apology. Nothing. No accountability whatsoever.
This isn’t even my first bad experience here. I actually transferred my daughter out of their dentistry side because the office is consistently dirty, and the tools didn’t even look clean enough for me to feel comfortable letting them work on her. That says everything.
Now I’m left trying to find a new orthodontist for my son because I absolutely do not feel safe bringing him back here. And to top it off, when I told the staff we wouldn’t be returning, she tried to scare me by saying no orthodontist in Pittsburgh would take my son for braces—which is completely false and unprofessional.
At the end of the day, they fail to realize something important: without patients, they don’t have a business. Respect, cleanliness, and basic professionalism go a long way—and this place has none of it.
I would not recommend this office to anyone.

I took my daughter for her six month cleaning, the person that did her cleaning took less than 5 minutes to do her cleaning and was on a rush. She left some residue of the cleaning on her teeth.

Avoid this practice at every location. Judging from others reviews and what I just experienced, you're better off driving out of state than go here. This is one of the only places with an oral surgeon listed by in insurance company that takes my insurance anywhere near me. I called hoping to set up an appointment to have my bottom wisdom teeth extracted. Mind you, I've already had my top ones taken out about 5 years ago when I lived in another state. The surgeon at this practice apparently will not remove them unless it is ALL FOUR at one time. How am I supposed to let him yank all 4 of them out when I only have TWO?! That is ludicrous. This place very obviously does not have compassion, and doesn't care about anything besides their bottom line. The money. If you ask me, that surgeon needs his certs taken away. Stay away from this place if you know what's good for you.

Communication and compassion doesn't exist there. The pediatric dentist has zero patience so I'm confused why he works with children. My child was given sealants and I was not notified until they brought her out. I work on dentistry so I know that is not proper care. My other child went for tooth pain and an abscess but came out silver caps. If I could give zero stars I would.

Unfortunately had a run around getting a filling taken care of over the holiday season. 2 appointments made before they would correct a cavity and now I find out that it wasn't even done properly and needs redrilled and likely a crown. Not happy with this office but the staff seemed friendly enough.

Impossible to work with. I’ve been in an emergency situation needing dental care for months and months now and this dentist is one of the only ones who will accept my insurance in the area. So I tried really hard to get in, I finally got my procedure scheduled and they cancelled it, told me they wouldn’t be able to get me in again for a few months. I kept calling trying to reschedule it, they can’t find any of my information in their system. So when I give them my name they put me on hold for 20 minutes and then hang up on me. I’ve given up and found a new dentist. This has been a horrible experience.
