Dear X-Ray Technician, Thank you for treating me like an adult today. I don’t think it’s possible for me to convey to you, how much it meant to me. It’s so common for individuals to treat me ever so slightly different because my disability is so obvious. The looks, the talking down to me, or most frequently talking to anyone with me but never me - is so common I often forget what it feels like to be treated normal. You didn’t hesitate to touch my twisted limbs. You talked directly to me, making eye contact and listening to my instructions. Never did you show discomfort or fear, even when positioning my weak, dead weight body. Today, you allowed me to feel independence without fear or judgement.
