I could go on and on, but I’ll keep this shorter…PIWH is fine for routine annual exams and those fortunate enough to only know textbook pregnancies and births. If you have a history of loss or anything less than blissfully happy experiences, either be prepared to advocate for yourself, bring someone to advocate for you, or go elsewhere. Also, check in and checkout is as slow as ever, forcing loss parents to be around pregnant women longer than necessary. Most staff can’t keep track of patient records or must not read them at all. I’ve been going to PIWH at both Lemoyne and Harrisburg locations for over 15 years and my previous nurse practitioner was Prudie Palmer and then once she left, I was transitioned to Jen Weaver. I was definitely nervous at first to talk someone brand new for my annual appts but now I’ve met with Jen Weaver twice and she is AMAZING! My most recent appt was back in Feb 2026 and I remember I was her first appointment in the morning and I had come with a full notebook of concerns and symptoms and she patiently listened to everything I had to say and she gave me 3 solutions! Loved the midwives at this practice. I had a wonderful birth experience at the Pennstate hospital.. and I always felt heard and comfortable with the providers here. I did not feel pushed into anything, and I really felt that I had an active role in any decisions. A huge plus is they had ultrasound and the high risk doctors in their office (who were also fantastic) which my previous practice did not have and I had to go to a whole different location to do each thing! I highly recommend them!
