To start, I want to say that I used to love coming to this salon and had been a loyal client for years. Mahagany always did a great job straightening my naturally curly hair, and I trusted her with it. Unfortunately, after my most recent visit, I won’t be returning and here’s why. After years of struggling to grow my hair out, it finally reached mid shoulder length following my pregnancy, and I was thrilled. I went in asking for long layers emphasizing that I didn’t want to lose much length but wanted some added volume for my curls. However, as the haircut began, I noticed she was cutting off quite a bit. I hesitated to say anything, trying to trust the process. But during the blow dry, I saw a much shorter layer and asked, “Is that how short my hair is now?” She reassured me it was just a layer. After a quick reveal, she wrapped my hair up, per my earlier request due to the weather. I wish I stopped her and looked at my hair properly before paying $65. Once I got home and took it down, I was devastated. The entire top layer of my hair had essentially been cut into a bob, leaving only a thin, uneven bottom layer long. There was no real layering just a drastic, poorly executed cut that I absolutely didn’t ask for. As someone who was just 3 months postpartum and trying to feel like herself again, this was heartbreaking. I called and asked if she could fix it. When I went back, instead of acknowledging the mistake, Mahagany made excuses, saying it was because my hair was “thin to begin with.” She suggested connecting the layers, but I refused as too much had already been cut, especially around the face, and it couldn’t be fixed without losing even more length. I understand everyone can have an off day. But as a professional and business owner, it’s important to own up to your mistakes rather than try to gaslight a client into thinking a visibly botched haircut was acceptable. I truly wish this experience had gone differently.
( I wish I had better pictures, this was the same day as the haircut. Obviously when it’s curly it is way shorter. )

I waited months to find a good hair salon and read review after review on many places. I finally decided to give Mahogany Salon in East Stroudsburg a try. I’m so thankful I did! The ladies were sweet, friendly and professional. Mahogany is one of the best hairdressers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. The price was a bit high but I guess it’s the going rate. I will definitely return!!

Horrible place showed up for my appointment. I had scheduled a week ahead of time and told me I screwed up on the day and time that I wasn’t supposed to be there instead of taking the blame herself for Miss scheduling or overbooking herself. She put the blame on me and refuse to see me would never schedule again nor recommend this place

Mahagany & staff was very inviting, took me on short notice and was efficient in getting me in & out fast. She colored & blew out my natural hair. She washed my existing clip-ins for an extra fee but my hair came out so nice; fluffy & bouncy (blowing in the wind), that she convinced me not to put them back in. Online payment was fast & easy. I will def be returning!

The owner is a beautiful woman. She is very good with any type of hair. She is quick, and you will love your hair when you leave.
