Big fan of this place. They always treat my pup with love & make it simple by utilizing email for documents and such.

Beware of taking your pets to Leighow Veterinary Hospital. What a traumatic mess they caused. Last month, I dropped my dog off early in the morning for a routine dental procedure. When the phone rang several hours later, I expected to hear that the procedure had been completed and that I could pick my dog up later on that day. Instead, I was told that the procedure never occurred because a staff person poisoned/overdosed my 5-pound dog with sedatives intended for a 70-pound dog. Poison control was contacted but their advice to induce vomiting "did not work", so charcoal treatment was applied instead. An emergency 24-hour facility was lined up (an hour away from home), just in case my dog needed round-the-clock observation/intervention (because Leighows typically closes by 7pm). I was informed at one point during the day, when an employee called to give me an update, that my dog appeared to be doing reasonably well (so far, so good) -- considering the circumstances-- and that I would be glad to hear that "protocols were now in place to prevent this from ever happening again." While I was certainly glad to hear that my little dog was hanging in there, I WAS VERY CONCERNED that effective protocols were apparently not already in place, especially for something as basic as medication management. It made me wonder if other operational protocols are lacking as well, and if staff are sufficiently trained. So, the idea of taking any of my dogs back to Leighows, especially to undergo a procedure requiring anesthesia, was completely out of the question. As an update: I was able to pick my dog up from Leighows about 12 hours after the overdose incident. She was dazed and tired and not herself, following the ordeal. She perked up the next day, after fully realizing she was in her home environment with her humans and 2 dog "siblings." All of my dogs will be receiving the care they need from another veterinarian!!!

We have been taking our cats and dogs to Leighow for years, but it recently changed hands and not for the better. Our dog started to cough and act like something was caught in his throat. Over the past year we have seen a different vet each time regarding the issue each with their own theories regarding cause, from damaged thorax, old age, allergies. Numerous medications, x-rays and still no response. After another round of x-rays and antibiotics we were prescribed cough medication, which they filled with no definition of what was in it or the strength. Dog got worse, with no callback from the vet when we called. Ended up taking our dog to the local animal ER at 11 pm where he was diagnosed with fluid on the lungs, congestive heart failure and enlarged heart. At a minimum, heart issues should have been considered a possibility with the chronic cough at Leighow! So $1,200, two days in an oxygen tent and new meds now required for him to take for the rest of his life! Needless to say but I will say it anyway, dog was misdiagnosed by at least 4 vets for over a year! Can't help but wonder if a year of misdiagnosis shortened my Buddy's life expectancy. I will not be going back to Leighow.

I took my dog in because he ate rat poison. Dr Smith was awesome. I was a mess and she was so calm and helpful. I cant thank her enough.

Had an appt for just a simple nail trim for our dog. An hour later and still sitting here. Worst thing is they finally called our dogs name only to take another dog with the same name. They came in 10 minutes ago. So I wasted medication that our dog needs to take just to come to the office. Very, very disappointed. Since Dr Kitchen sold the place and retired it has gone down hill. And just so you know no one apologized for the long wait. So we had to leave with no nails cut.

My mom and I work in home health and take care of our residents’ pet needs, vet appts, grooming, etc. Staff are always rude when we call to get vaccination records, called four times to have vaccination records emailed and never received them. Rude in person when we pick up pet prescriptions. I don’t recommend this vet at all.

They while overbooked, made the time and brought my daughter's cat back from the brink of death.

I called for information. The woman who answered the phone was unprofessional to say the least. I didn’t get any information at all and was just asked to make an appointment over and over until I declined to do so based on her attitude alone. Sorry you’re not getting my business.
