“Well, this part of the adventure is finally complete. One more step to go. But, I simply cannot be more pleased.
I didn’t talk a whole lot about it to more than a few folks. But, I can now. And, I want to so that if you need help you know where to go.
Chemo destroyed my teeth. It’s listed in the three ring binder that they give you when you begin as a side effect that may or may not happen. During treatment I lost two bridges, four fillings and a few other random nubs. They fail from the inside out as chemo also destroys the good cells in your person along with the bad ones. So, I was one of the lucky ones to have this delightful sidecar.
So, a few months ago, I had surgery to remove all of my top teeth. It was terrifying. I was under for about six hours and the process was completed and I left that day with six titanium posts and a temporary set of teeth. I ate a liquid and soft foods only diet for about 8 weeks until everything healed and then I could introduce more foods.
I practiced ‘Susie sells seashells by the seashore’ a hundred times a day or more. And, slowly but surely I was able to speak normally again.
Today, my permanent ‘Kardashian’ teeth were installed. And, I cried. They are beautiful and they look even better than the ones that I was grew as a child.
