This school is amazing. Very proud of my son being accepted into this school. Only complaint is his Spanish teacher Sophia Betancourt. The most unprofessional teacher I have ever met. Hides behind other faculty when I reach out through emails to her and never answers my emails. She needs to learn how to be professional, cause she clearly isn’t. I have never had an issue with any other teacher when sending emails, they all have responded in a timely manner. Other than that, All teachers my son has had are helpful and definitely care on making sure students succeed. Great school overall except for that so called Spanish teacher.

Went to see the Latin Music Ensemble and the Black Excellence shows and both were spectacular. The best shows I've been to here out of all the ones they've hosted.

I joined charts in 2019 thinking that I would have a safe space where I can express myself for who I am and the students in my major did nothing but bully me out of this school, I expressed my issues to the head of my department and no actions were made to stop the bullying

My daughter was nurtured and challenegd attending Charter Arts. Where there problems? Yes, of course, it's high school. It's brimming with teenagers, hormones, energy, creativity, and opinions. As is any good educational environment.
The fit was amazing for our child, and the proof is that she drove 50 min each way for 4 years. She is graduating in a month, got into a top school, her frist choice, and is emerging at a 1st year college level musican. No school will be perfect, there will always be kids, staff, or something to derail you if you let it. But if you lead with kindness, do your work, show interest? It's an open door of possibilities. Thanks Charts <3

If I didn't go to high school here perhaps I would of actually done something with my life

I’m entering my senior year at this school. I was so excited to grow musically at this school, and while I have, the music department is probably the only good thing about this school. It’s run by completely incompetent people.
Update: they’ve fired the best teacher out of the blue. Just stay away from this place

Comically awful! If you’ve ever had an illness that has caused you to miss more than 3 days of school, do NOT COME HERE. and god forbid you have any other type of physical or mental issue that prevents you from attending school in person. I went here with an IEP. Jessica Diana was my case manager. This person who’s job is quite literally to help me complete my work and help me catch up, was EXTREMELY eager to help send threatening letters to my house letting me know if I did not miraculously become healthy and start attending school in person again that my parents would be sent to jail and I would have to go to truancy court. I understand this is something that can happen in all school districts; but the way admin at Charter Arts went about this was so horrible we had to get legal representation against this school. They directly chose not to accept my doctors notes, directly telling us that the doctor who gave me the notes simply wasn’t a real doctor (as she was a Nurse Practitioner, someone who legally can give out REAL doctors notes!). So my amazingly helpful case manager, with the help of Lauren Sheldon (thankfully she’s gone from admin) sent CPS to my house. A social worker went through my fridge, my room, and all the rooms in my home. I have a chronic illness that cannot simply be cured. Countless doctors notes from multiple doctors explained this to them, and yet I ended up having to transfer back to my public school as I received zero support from the team that was there to support me. On days I was able to attend school in person, Jessica Diana would immediately call down to whatever room I was in and have me sit with her in the IEP room instead of me working on my classes current assignments, thus causing me to grow incredibly distant from the major I was once very close and bonded with. It become very obvious you are only welcome in this school if you don’t present any actual issues to be solved, you’d think an IEP team would be well versed in helping with students who need the extra help and are likely already struggling, but this school made me feel like a burden because of my illness. As for the schools other issues, it’s well known within the seniors and graduated students that there is INSANE favoritism here. I don’t mean your typical extra attention during class, I mean like these teachers will talk trash about other students and gossip in front of everyone during class. The school has lockdowns and bomb threats every month, and it’s only getting worse and worse. My last year here an astounding amount of long term teachers left and found jobs elsewhere, and this trend has just continued. The admin team and principle are constantly changing and yet the school is still in shambles. Obviously there’s teachers here that are amazing, but a lot those teachers have either left, or are leaving this year. Regardless of all the other drama mentioned in this review, it is simply just not safe to send your child here. You will be receiving frequent letters home warning of anonymous threats of violence. Whenever this happens, all the students are rounded up out of the building and must walk to the ice skating rink and stand there and wait while the police and firemen search the school for what is almost always hours. The school tells all students they are not allowed to call or texts their parents, and parents are not allowed to come pick their kids up and take them away from this mess. All together, not great <3
