“I had the pleasure of working with surface design when I was looking for a contractor to renovate/replace my pool patio (remove failing flagstone and replace with stamped concrete), build an 15 foot concrete submerged bench inside my pool, and enhance landscaping. From the very beginning, I found Sam and Landon to be honest, fair, and excellent communicators.

Before the project began, Sam did an incredible job listening to what I was trying to accomplish and putting together different renderings to make sure that we were aligned on an actionable plan. Sam was very thoughtful about recommendations on Concrete stamping, colors, and textures. On the landscaping front, I’m glad that I trusted his vision and instincts because it tied the project together perfectly. Sam was considerate of what plants would do well based upon the soil, sun exposure, and deer resistance.

On the pool patio, we went with a marsh grey color with medium gray border with a heavy stone stamp and charcoal antiquing. The coping around the pool has a chiseled / rock faced edge. I was blown away when they were finished; it looks incredible. These guys are truly artists and I give them my highest endorsement. Since the crew finished, I have had a professional tiler, professional painter and a few other folks at my house for the subsequent phases of the project and every one of them starts with ….”holy cow, who did your concrete?? That is the best work I’ve ever seen!”

I honestly don’t have a single complaint and I am normally pretty picky. I genuinely enjoyed the entire process. All made possible by an amazing crew, all of whom I found to be exceptional humans … Jay, Matt, and about a half dozen other guys … all very respectful, courteous, clean cut, and hard working. I trusted having them at my home and appreciated how they were always so clean, and careful. Silly example but there is a Norway spruce branch that hangs a little low in my driveway to the point that their box truck would likely hit when they drove underneath … every morning I would watch the passenger hop out and use an extension to prop up the branch while the driver drove under … it wouldn’t have damaged their truck, but it would have likely damaged the branch. I never asked them to do this, nor did they even know I saw them do it… it’s little stuff like this that gave me a tremendous amount of confidence in their work and respect for their ethic.

I recommend Surface Design LLC to anyone looking for a contractor they can trust with an important project. These guys are the real deal. I look forward to posting a few pictures of the entire project when the tile work and painting inside the pool is complete!“
