About Sit Means Sit Dog Training - Portland
Sit Means Sit Dog Training - Portland is dedicated to making dogs and their owners happier. They offer specialized board-and-train programs and one-on-one lessons, using attention-based techniques to help dogs overcome challenges and succeed in real-life situations. Customers praise the trainers' experience and the remarkable progress their dogs have shown, with transformations described as "like night and day." The training requires significant time and consistency from the entire family, which can be challenging for busy households. The trainers emphasize the importance of fully committing to the process for the best results. Many owners report that their dogs no longer pull on the leash, jump on people and counters, and have become more trustworthy companions. The trainers, including Halle, Matt, and Kaylee, are known for their patience, kindness, and ability to connect with dogs. Halle has received praise for her work with challenging dogs, helping owners feel comfortable with training techniques. Matt is recognized for tailoring sessions to individual dog needs and providing practical tools that yield lasting results. Kaylee is highlighted for her calm, positive approach, helping owners build confidence in their dogs and themselves. Overall, the staff are positive and professional, caring about both dogs and their owners, and they provide ongoing support, including group training, making it a worthwhile investment for those dedicated to practicing daily.
I couldn’t be happier with Sit Means Sit and Matt’s training. My dog Rosa was a stray. I adopted her at 1.5 years old with a mystery background beyond the fact she was originally a stray. She is still learning how to be a happy girl and feel safe in this big intimidating world. She unfortunately reacts to other humans and dogs and with her mystery background I felt the need to bring a professional in.
Let’s just say, one of the best decisions I ever made.
We have An Australian Shepherd to say he’s very Energetic is to-put it lightly. I wanted to make sure that Bandit got the proper training so he could live his best life.
His trainer is amazing! I was excited every time I picked up bandit to see his progress!
You could see how much bandit Loved his trainer!
I was also trained on how to use the E collar. They made it very clear that unless you were informed on how to use the E collar no one else should use it.
Matt is also a very good instructor on teaching you how to work with your Pet. Made sure that we understood the lessons and gave us homework.
We both came a long way!

We brought our 6 month miniature long haired dachshund to Sit Means Sit and they are fantastic. Such a great experience for us and our little guy Paul! Significant difference in a short time. Extremely grateful for their service!
