I had a surgery scheduled today 12/2/24 for 4:15. Was told to arrive at 3:15. Also due to the sedation I was not allowed to eat anything all day. And if I wanted to eat something would have to wake up and do so before 6am in case they needed to move my apt up. So I requested time off work, applied for Leave of Absence with my employer as I was going to be out for a minimum of 2 weeks. Starved myself all day. I got to the surgery center around 3:20pm as we were unclear on the location since it states vision surgery on the building. Upon entering there was no one in the reception and we felt very awkward standing in there looking into what looked like the clinic. A gal...read full review
I had been diagnosed before Covid with a cataract starting in my right eye. I researched and found a doctor in Roseburg but he was no longer here but he recommended Dr. Andrea Gray. I met with Dr. Gray and confirmed there was only a problem in my right eye. She gave me a chance to try glasses for the left eye only and keep the cataract as it was good close up and the other would be for distance. I had trouble adjusting to two different visions so we set up an appointment for surgery at the Vision Surgery and Laser Center. Someone called me to do a pre check-in. It was quick and easy. They sent texts to confirm my appointment and sent instructions for the day of the surgery. I arrived the day of the surgery with all my necessary items was greeted and check in was fast. I felt comfortable in the office. I was called back and was given a big comfy recliner with a warm blanket to rest before surgery. The nurse was nice and explained everything that would happen and how I may feel during surgery. They put a line in your arm so they can give you a 'twilight' anesthesia. The nurse had worked in the Operating Room fir 32 years so I knew she was capable of whatever was needed. Dr. Gray came in to be sure I was ok and ready. They took me to surgery and the next I know I was in recovery. I didn't remember anything about the surgery. The center is run extremely well with top notch support and medical staff. They cover everything to make you feel at ease with the surgery. The place is clean and, yet, warm and comfortable. A 5/5 is not enough for what they do from check-in through check-out!!
If I could give them a negative I would. Here's my experience: My 85 year old grandmother who has a broken knee due to her health is not a candidate to have surgery. Note that my grandma lives in Roseburg and I travel from Medford, for most of her appt (that's about 1.5 hour drive one way, oh and I work at a health center faculty myself). We are refereed and called to schedule an appointment for February 5th, 2020. On the 4th of Feb, I receive a call asking that I confirm the appt. On the 5th when I've arranged to have the day off, and am on the freeway and have arranged for another appt for my grandma my cell phone rings and it's one of the schedulers from the office...read full review
