In my experience as a lawyer, I’ve had plenty of discussions with recruiters. Most are dead end resume farming, and if you get them on a second call they hide the pertinent information about the job they think you should be excited to apply for. Enter Boly Welch and my recruiter, Kelsey Williams. I was looking to transition but kept my eyes on local opportunities (Midwest metro). One day, I get a call from Kelsey, asking if I’m 1) looking for a new opportunity and 2) open to a move to the Pacific Northwest. To my delight, she found me from something I marked years ago on my LinkedIn profile. I was completely unaware that I had that open still, but after a quick discussion with my partner, I listened to more about the opportunities. Yes, she had more than one, and she supplied me up from with the information needed to actually consider such a move. Within a week, I had two interviews. Within three weeks, I had an offer in hand and an offer to fly me out to the other firm for a final. Six weeks later, we were 2500 miles away in a new home with a new outlook. Most importantly, Kelsey listened, and that’s how I met with two wonderful firms who both matched my desired balance and culture. She was responsive, provided guidance, and supported me throughout the process. We had frank conversations about both prospects, and she gave me her real opinion. I’m hoping to find a home at this new firm (I love it so far), but if I ever need a change or an opportunity arises, I won’t hesitate to make Kelsey and Boly Welch my first call.
