Service technician, Michael, sent a reminder text, and ETA text. He arrived at estimated time, put on shoe covers to protect floors, and proceeded to assess the old workhorse dryer. He offered a reasonably-priced option which should keep it going for a number of years, thus saving me (for a while at least) from buying an expensive new dryer made of cheaper materials, with built-in planned- obsolescence.
