I stumbled across layton retrievers by a simple google search. First thing I did was read the reviews. (Which were amazing) I decided to reach out and his program checked all the boxes for what I wanted for my bird dog. Fast forward I sent my German wirehair pointer for 3 months and it was absolutely the best investment I could have ever made for me and my hunting buddy. Greg does an absolute amazing job building the confidence if these young dogs with his years of experience and knowledge. I loved how I was able to also be apart of weekly training sessions. Greg and his staff are excellent dog trainers. Although we missed our pup when he was gone, we knew our pup was in good hands when he was with them. We loved going out to visit him and be watch him work. We would bring our kids out to work with him and he was always so encouraging and let them be involved. We have consulted Greg afterwards when we have run into issues with our dog and he has always been so helpful and encouraging. It is obvious he loves the dogs and owners that he works with. Greg and his staff are so warm and honest and treats you like part of the family. My only complaint is that he isn't closer but he is definitely worth the drive!

I took my vizsla pup, Halle, to Layton Retrievers when she was 6 months. She was an independent puppy and I worried after a few months away she might return even more aloof. I worried too that the training might be too harsh on her, and she might harden and lose her goofy personality. But I also knew I didn’t have the skill-set to e-collar train her on my own and her recall off-leash was abysmal, which was unsafe with a dog that’s so fast.Instead, Layton Retrievers helped her mature into a sweet girl who is eager to please. We specialize in professional waterfowl/upland retriever training and AKC hunt tests. Each dog receives an individualized training program designed for their skill level. Our facility also offers clean spacious kennels, and plenty of space for dogs to work and play. Since each dog learns at their own pace, training involves much time and repetition and there is no definite timetable for completion. We recommend leaving your dog with us between 3-5 months and will communicate regularly regarding their progress. We also encourage a tune-up for a month before hunting season to continue your dog’s development.
