I cannot thank kevin at paw and hand enough. Whitney is a lab/shepherd mix, she went to an 8 week board and train for behavior modification. Whitney previously lived on a farm but unfortunately we had to move to an apartment complex. She wasn't too happy with being on a leash, or seeing so many other dogs and people. I had no idea what I was doing or how to handle her reactive behaviors, it became a nightmare to take her outside to potty, let alone give her the excersize she needed. She was not socialized as much as she should have been while a puppy so new people weren't her friend. at the meet and greet she barked at everyone just about the whole time. Merissa is truly gifted....when we came to Paw & Hand K9, we had a 4 yr. working line German Shepherd, who, while a very sweet boy, was reactive, lacked enough confidence, had poor recall, was incredibly triggered by our cats, and who was a chore to travel with. I did a TON of research on board & train programs......and when I say TON, I mean 50+ trainers in Oregon & Washington. I wanted to find someone who intimately knew the breed, had been in business for at least 10 years, and who had exceptional reviews. Not an easy feat to say the least. I definitely became obsessed with finding the right trainer & the right place for Bear.
I’m in Heaven. When I look down at the sweet bundle of love napping next to me, it’s hard to believe he’s the same dog we brought to Hands and Paws K9 for help this summer.
The bundle’s name is Bob, and he’s our sweet, entertaining and fascinating Boston Terrier. We got him as a puppy, and because I’ve done a lot of puppy training, I figured it would be a breeze. Oh my, it was not. He quickly earned the nickname “Boston Terrorist.”
From the get-go, my training commands were met with a level of obstinance that left me speechless. He became very reactive, and when he got excited, his energy would spin out of control.... read full review
