Spur of the moment decision to look into getting foot massages during a recent trip to Chinatown and we were able to walk in at Zhen Zhen. The shop was clean and the staff welcoming. I only wanted a relaxing massage and not reflexology, but it was hard to get that request across. It started with a 15 minute foot soak in very hot water that felt fantastic! While our feet were soaking, we received a10 min shoulder massage. My daughter enjoyed hers, but mine was a little too deep tissue to truly be enjoyable. As we moved onto the foot massage, I clearly explained that due to old injuries, I needed the pressure to be fairly light. The gentleman acknowledged my request and I must say if that is what is considered gentle pressure I am afraid to imagine what heavier pressure feels like. I was able to manage, when he was doing my feet, but the pressure from his thumb on the bones in my legs was excruciating. If my facial expressions and squirming weren't clues enough, my repeated request to ease up went unheeded. I powered thru, but was more sore than when I walked in. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed hers and was very happy. Note that if you pay with a credit card, you are charged tax.
