Sally was fantastic! This is the first time I've ever had Tuina massage, although I see a massage therapist monthly at home. I am visiting Toronto and my back has been killing me. I have quite a pronounced scoliosis and get a lot of pain between my shoulder blades where the biggest part of the curve it. I was actually looking for Shiatsu online when I came across Tuina. I'd never even heard of Tuina before, so I looked up the difference between the two & thought I'd give it a try. It was so good! If you're looking for a nice relaxing massage that you get undressed for and they put oil or lotion on your back, this is not for you! This was very relaxing, but in a different way and you leave your clothes on (tie up your hair if it's long). Nice relaxing music is also played and you are in a private room (unlike some places that have several tables lined up in the same room, with no curtains). If you've got painful stiff muscles, and want a very deep, intense massage, than this is for you, particularly if you are already used to massage. This method really works out all of the knots in the problem areas you've listed. It uses very firm pressure on the tight muscles, but she does frequently ask you if it's ok, so if it is too much pressure, you can tell her that it's too much. She also stretches your tight muscles. She stretched my arms in various directions, while supporting my shoulder or pushing on my back, to really get to all the muscles leading up the problem areas. She also stretched my legs and back, so make sure you let her know if you have any disk issues or injuries so she can accommodate that. If you are not used having your body manipulated, then just know she will just gently move and reposition your limbs and stretch without asking, because this is the normal with this type of massage. She also does a chopping or gentil knocking/thumping on the muscles that are really tight and not loosening with just direct pressure, or with areas that maybe cannot handle as much direct pressure. Because I've been getting massage therapy for many years, I know to drink a lot of water following this type of massage and that I will probably be sore later tonight and possibly tomorrow, but that is NORMAL! She just worked your muscles, just like when you've been working out and your muscles are sore afterwards. You have to drink a lot of water after a deep tissue massage, because any time you work the muscles (with exercise or manipulation like massage), your muscles release lactic acid and if you don't flush it out, it kind of ferments there and causes pain. She pretty much gives attention to all areas (hands, head, etc), however does not spend much time on these areas if your problem areas take up a lot of the session. I really wish that I had booked 90 min so that she had more time to spend on my feet, hands and head, but now I know to book more time next time. Sally was so good and seemed to know exactly which areas needed more attention. She found tight muscles in my legs that I didn't even realize were so tight. I will definitely be back the next time I am in town! Just a friendly tip, it costs less if you pay cash, but even the prices you pay if claiming on your insurance are very good and less than many other places. Go see Sally! You won't regret it!
They are the best at what they do. I recommend them all the time to friend & family.
