About Summer Sun Spa
Summer Sun Spa is a relaxing spa located in Chinatown, known for its kind and accommodating staff. The spa is spacious, with a beautifully clean shiny floor and offers a calming environment. Julie, a staff member from Shanghai, is particularly welcoming and engaging, making customers feel at ease. The spa offers a reflexology and massage combo, where customers can choose to have their feet done first in a separate reflexology room with four chairs. While the reflexology may not be as intense as other places, the body massage provided by Julie is highly recommended. She uses shiatsu techniques learned in Toronto, and provides a satisfying and relaxing experience. Customers can also opt for a one hour foot rub and one hour massage, which is well worth the price of $89 if paid in cash. The staff is limited in English, but Google Translate works well for communication. The spa also has a nail salon, although it has not been reviewed. Summer Sun Spa is a great place for both individual and group visits, with rooms that can accommodate multiple plush chairs for simultaneous foot massages. It is recommended to make an appointment for multiple people to ensure enough staff is available. Overall, the spa provides an excellent and relaxing experience.
I went to Chinatown after a quick foot and back massage.. I saw summer sun spa downstairs and the lady seating at the door noticed that I was searching for a massage place and she talked to me. She was very direct with the price and services (probably because she doesn’t speak English properly). As soon as a said “okey, let’s try”, she already called the other girl, the girl called me to one of the rooms. It was very clean and organized!!! I did the 30’ foot 30’ body massage and she was very kind always asking if it was too strong of too weak. The only thing that made me “”uncomfortable”” is that the walls are not isolated, so you can hear everything...read full review
I visited the spa after a long day on my feet. The staff are very kind and accommodating & provided a nice, clean & relaxing environment. Neil gave me a great foot & body massage - thank you!
Working my way thru the various massage joints in Chinatown, I'm going west along Dundas, on the north side. Since Nasha seemed unoccupied when I went, Summer Sun Spa was the next choice. It is a spacious spot, and had a beautifully clean shiny floor, with Julie from Shanghai welcoming me warmly to the space when I went into this basement business and offering me some slippers. She was quite chatty and had decent English, and was quite engaging to talk to. I asked for the reflexology and massage combo, and when she led me to the massage room, I pointed out that I wanted the feet done first so we met in the reflexology room which has four chairs in it. While we were in there, a group of 3 came in and sat down and then eventually left, possibly wanting a more private experience, but I don't know. I enjoyed the hot water soaking although the reflexology wasn't quite as intense or satisfying as others. She wore those crinkly clear plastic gloves which felt off and made noises and just didn't feel as good as just bare hands. The other difference is that some massage your ankles and calves and even up to the knees which seems like much better value. The other technique used is heavy pressure on the bottom of your feet in the arch area which is painful, yet feels great when they stop and afterwards seems to make your feet much more relaxed.Julie's body massage was excellent and highly recommended. Interestingly she says that she learned shiatsu here in Toronto, rather than in China.Recommended!
