“Highly highly recommend the beginner silversmith workshop! The instructors are super kind, patient, very very experienced, and easy to get along with. Classes are 3 hours every week. You learn a TON and have a bunch of fun, and also get to meet cool people with similar interests. Not to mention you leave the end of the 6 weeks with an awesome sterling silver ring that you made entirely yourself. Absolute beginners and folks with some limited experience making jewellery will find it's the perfect learning environment. If you're socially awk (me, haha) or anxious about doing a class I promise this is a great option for you. I strongly feel it is well worth the registration fee, which works out to less than $100 per class.
The studio is kept clean, well organized, and importantly, safe! The soldering area has proper ventilation & beginners are always supervised with the torch, there are plenty of safety glasses to go around, aprons are available to protect your clothes, the studio has a kitchenette and bathroom for immediate access to water/sanitation, and safety procedures with rotary tools are enforced by the instructors. Student benches have comfortable and adjustable chairs (my back has never been sore after a class!) and the workspace has more than enough room for you to do your thing.“
