During my co-op term and volunteering time I was able to experience and learn about the veterinary field, something I was very interested as a highschool student who was unsure on what to study after graduation. The doctors, vet technicians and animal care assistants were very open to any of my questions and also made me feel involved through learning activities. For example, during my volunteering in the summer they made some demonstrations to teach us how to properly handle big, small dogs, and cat patients to assist the vet technicians. Milliken Bridlewood Vet Clinic provides excellent mentorship for pre-veterinary and veterinary students alike. The staff are helpful, compassionate, and professional with clients. Additionally, they demonstrate professionalism and create a learning atmosphere for volunteers. Veterinarians (Dr. Rice, Dr. Lam, Dr. Wu) are patient and facilitate a safe environment for hopeful veterinary students to learn proper client communication and develop a connection to the career path.
