Dr. Lisa Mayes, OD - Total Vision Care

Dr. Mayes provides excellent care. But I am posting this review specifically to highly recommend The Vision Care store just outside Dr. Mayes’ office in the adjoining lobby. Dr. Mayes husband, Daine, provides the service in this store. He is by far the best I’ve ever had since I started wearing glasses 33 years ago. So much more professional service than I’ve ever received at the vision chain stores. I seldom post a review, but this place really made me want to let others know about it, so they can receive the excellent care like I have for a number of years now.

Dr. Mayes is extraordinary in her concern for and care of her patients. She will spend as much time with the patient as needed, is thorough, explains everything so the patient understands the results of the exam. For years, I had normal vision, nearsightedness, but as I've aged I have had issues with glaucoma and, most recently, bleeding in one eye. Her expertise has given me peace knowing she is keeping a close eye on my condition and treatment options.

I came to Sylvester Eye Center for my eye exam, after moving away from my previous eye care provider. I arrived on time, and had to wait 30+ minutes in the lobby. The optometric assistant performed most of the measurements, such testing your eye pressure, visual field, refraction, acuity, etc. Afterwards, you spend 20+ minutes waiting for the optometrist to come in to perform the slit-lamp exam and sign off on the vision result. Aside from the long wait (spent over total of 1.5hr in this place) and the pushing of their products, I will probably come back.
