I have been apart of this school for 8 years. When I first started TaeKwonDo, I did not know how much it would change my life in a good way. It is also a lot of fun if you put in the work. My parents and I did TKD as a family and that was even better. I have made lots of friends as a student and an assistant instructor. I have been able to travel the country with Mr. Day for tournaments. Those are memories I will have forever. He is great with all ages. I strongly recommend Day’s Blackbelt Academy.

My daughter is in the Tigers program for kids 3-6. We were looking for a structured activity for her in Durant, and we love this place. The first thing I noticed is how kind, respectful, and patient the students are. There are some young children in these classes learning some serious leadership skills. Mr. Day is her teacher, and he is incredibly patient with the small children. I wasn't expecting much, because this is the first time my 3-year-old has done any kind of group class. However, she has been going for less than a month, and I am impressed with her progress. It isn't just that she is making progress in class learning basic skills for taekwondo: It is that the progress she makes in class translates to her progress at home. Her motor skills have improved in general. She is better at taking turns, following instructions, and showing respect for both adults and peers. It took her a couple of weeks to learn to love the class, but now she looks forward to going. The teachers and the older students all seem to be great role models for kids. I hope my daughter will stick with this long-term, because I can't wait to see how it continues to help her grow. I can't really recommend this place highly enough. I'm not sure I understand the negative review. I can say that it doesn't match up with our experience. I like the structure of the ATA kids programs, which let kids experience success frequently enough to stay motivated. Especially the little ones with short attention spans. My daughter loves getting stars on a card after class. This kid isn't motivated by much, but she wants those stars. She doesn't care about belts, but I'm sure she will be really excited when she eventually gets a new one, but there has been no pressure to do a belt test any time soon. I also consider the fees pretty affordable. It's comparable to dance classes in this town, except you don't have all the extra costs such as costumes, special shoes, makeup, recitals, etc... Even private lessons are appropriately priced for the Durant area. What we gain from paying those fees is well worth it!

I was at first so scared of takin taekwondo because i have done nothing like it before. I went the 1st day and felt welcome and surprisingly i learned a lot just in lesson 1. I still go and learn more each day! The instructors r so nice and incredibly patient. You learn at your own pace and each student is at a different level so u will not be rushed. The class is not very big either, making day's blackbelt academy a comfortable and friendly place to learn martial arts.
