“Vivian was spectacular! I knew my hair might be a challenge for any stylist at a salon that likely doesn’t specialize in 4c type hair. However, Vivian was willing to listen to my instructions and didn’t make me feel awkward when seeing how thick my hair was. I only needed a wash and blow dry, which may sound simple but it truly isn’t if you’ve never worked with 4c hair before. I brought my own shampoo, conditioner, blow drying protectant, cream, and detangle comb due to knowing the shop might not carry products and tools for my hair (which I’m glad I did because Vivian might have struggled a lot so it might the process much smoother). Although it was clear she may have been nervous, Vivian completed my hair with no complaints, she was welcoming, open to feedback, and she followed all instructions. Originally she told me it was $25 for a wash and blow dry but during the process she stated that she should’ve told me $30. I don’t know if this was because of the texture of my hair or because of how long it took, while typically I would feel annoyed at the sudden price change, I understood that she probably worked a bit harder than she would’ve for someone with thinner hair and she definitely deserved the extra $5 plus a tip. Overall, the staff were really nice! Everyone said hello and I didn’t feel uncomfortable being in a space where I was the only person with 4c hair! Vivian was open to washing and blow drying my hair again but she let me know that there was a person named Katie that specializes in 4c hair if I wanted to style my hair in the future (Just noting this for anyone looking).
