INCREDIBLE!! Today I attended my first Hapkido class with Grandmaster Chuck Beyersdoerfer in West Chester Ohio. I inquired into this training because I wanted to be prepared when someone assaults me or my family or gets a little too close attempting to rob us or worse. Our society is out of control with people doing whatever they want wherever they want, with very little police protection, slow reaction times which is too late and legal protection favoring criminals who are getting out of charges with overcrowding jails and technical red tape. This class led by Grandmaster Beyersdoerfer really opened my eyes and my physical awareness of the muscle memory practice needed to be ready to disable an attacker. Most people freeze up or go into a bit of confusion or in semi shock when assaulted, and then it’s too late. Within this training I have learned from just this first visit that anyone, young or old, can learn to defend themselves with the well taught and simple series of readiness exercises and movements. I challenge every man, father and husband and every woman, mother, and wife, to try this class out, and bring your spouse or significant other, it only takes the one visit to realize how ill prepared we are as individuals and as a family and community. I can’t wait for this Monday’s next class! I highly recommend self defense training and physical conditioning and give a 5 star review for this professional and family-friendly organization!

Moving to the Cincinnati area 11 years ago and visiting many martial arts Dojo’s, I found Grand Master B had the passion and experience I was looking for. The training is first rate with technical skills, care for students and family atmosphere. From his law enforcement experience and 50+ years of martial arts training, Grand Master B unpacks and delivers real life self defense training with fun and intensity.

This is coming from a point of view of a middle aged adult. I actually earned by black belt at a different school and they were also a good school, I wanted to broaden my skills into other martial arts and skills that were not emphasized at my old school and I came here just over a year ago. I have had to learn an entirely different set of forms which has been interesting, but what has particularly impressed me is the attention to detail shown here. Everything is taught the same way and there is a major emphasis on the basics. It actually goes even further than that as we have gone over in detail much more than the martial arts aspects such as stretching, recommended workouts and martial arts skills. Since arriving I have spent time with Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, some Judo and weapons work as well. We have even discussed diets and nutrition and I currently have a goal and a plan to lose 50 pounds which I wasn't even looking for, but is an added benefit. They are VERY knowledgeable on all of this and have decades of experience. I am a difficult student and I keep trying things my way, but I have yet to be right :). Despite this they have been very patient with me and I have improved even with my efforts not too improve, I am getting better. What I find particularly impressive is they try to emphasize skills that are useful is real world scenarios and not just planned movements. While we do spend a lot of time working on forms as we should and they are a great way to learn martial arts, a real fight would rarely if ever follow the flow of each form, what we do here is take those forms and motions that we learn and work towards dynamically adapting to different scenarios. Overall, I would say my martial arts skills have taken a huge leap forward in the past year. One amusing example is I went from not being able to break a concrete block to easily breaking 3 blocks (and I plan to try 4 in the future). If I am ready for a higher belt in the future, I will have definitely earned it by then (at this time, I do not have the necessary skills for this, but I will get there eventually. :) ) If you are looking for a school where you will earn your belts and actually learn the skills and be able to apply them in the real world, this school is an excellent choice and I HIGHLY recommend them. There are schools out there that you basically pay them money and you get a belt (this is NOT helpful to the student), but this is NOT one of those schools, you will definitely learn and earn everything you get here.

Master Beyersdoerfer is the best instructor I’ve ever had. I have learned so much from him in martial arts, self defense and life in general. This man has a intense passion teaching his students anything and everything they want to learn.
