Very unfortunate experience for my husband. I'm grateful I did not have his experience when we went. Due to the "nature" of his experience at Spavia in Strongsville Ohio, he doesn't wish to recall it, and so asked that I write this review for him instead. Initially, the owners/managers of this establishment appeared very concerned. Even asking that he "send" his experience to them in writing, since he was to upset to express it to them at the time. We were hopeful and did so almost a month ago. We have received NO reply from them concerning his experience, to date. We were hoping to write an "updated," more positive review based on the owners/managers desire to help, and "to make it right," so they said. Sadly, we cannot. Please read on and judge for yourself... Based on Ashley’s reviews, it’s clear his experience wasn’t due to her lack of skill or knowledge, but rather her lack of enthusiasm and unwillingness to perform the service with care. Making his 60 minutes session grueling and very uncomfortable. Far below Spavia’s standards. From an excessively long and overly oily scalp effleurage "rub." It could hardly be called a scalp "massage." To the poor use of the stones, it was absolutely apparent that Ashley performed the "whole" service begrudgingly. After spending over $200, including tip, my husband left feeling stressed instead of relaxed. Maybe she was having an off day, I'm not sure, but for an establishment like Spavia — especially at this price point — the service was totally unacceptable. To say the least. I’m writing this review on his behalf, as it was such a disappointing and demeaning experience that he prefers not to relive it. To their credit, the managers immediately expressed concern and offered to make things right. Since he was unable to explain his level of disappointment at that time, the managers/owners advised him to write this review. Which we sincerely appreciated, at the time. However, their words and seeming concern for him remain, unfulfilled.
If you're looking for a great place to get a facial, I recommend Spavia. Better yet, I highly recommend you book an appointment with Mallory. When I had my first appointment, I mentioned that I have rosacea and very sensitive skin. I was surprised at her depth of knowledge regarding my issues and pleased with her facial suggestions. I always leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a facial with her. In fact, I've had several facials with her, and I've always been pleased with the results. Compared to other chain day spas, Spavia provides the most bang for your buck! I love that they provide lockers, sandals, robes and changing areas. The pre- & post- retreat area is wonderful too. It's calm and peaceful and allows you to relax both before and after treatment. I without a doubt highly recommend Spavia and have suggested it to all of my friends and family. I have even made recommendations to my friends and family regarding the skin care products they carry (shout out to FarmHouse Fresh). If you're looking for a great day spa with knowledgeable staff and amazing services for the best prices, look no further. Run, don't walk, into a Spavia and get a treatment today!
