This was my first time using the Metro Health System. I went to a dermatology appointment for an annual check up and had to have a punch biopsy. The dermatologist was great and I have no complaints about the care I received. What I am appalled about is the billing. I paid the first bill for the doctors fees. Then was charged a second bill with the same codes saying these are the facility fees. I owe over $500 (this is after insurance pays for over half) for the 5 minutes extra it took to do the small biopsy. I tried to call and talk with them. They reviewed the case and said the billing is correct. I was not aware these fees existed and am shocked at how much they are charging. It is really not fair or right to charge this amount for the services received. I will be changing insurances and providers as soon as I can and would advise anyone using this health center to ask ahead of time what you will be charged for and how much if you do.

They are not transparent about their billing policies and will absolutely charge you for services that are either not real or not disclosed properly to patients. Do you know that EVERY MetroHealth medical building is a hospital and you’ll be billed for outpatient care regardless of what care you receive? For example, my child was seen for less than 20 minutes in a room, less than 3 minutes of that was with an actual doctor. They said my two separate bills were for the visit AND an outpatient hospital visit due to equipment used, supplies used, time in the building, etc etc etc. Okay fine, but one line of the bill says “Minimum 30 minutes” which is not the amount of time we were given by anyone here, not even including the waiting room time.
Don’t bother calling billing to review the codes unless you have an hour to waste. They just parrot out the script given to them by someone higher up that knows most patients don’t actually review the codes and line item bills. I hate my insurance company, but this one isn’t on them. It’s on Metro ExpressCare, which is apparently a hospital. Maybe they’ll update their website to clarify now that it’s been brought to their attention that they have not disclosed their billing process for ExpressCare, which honestly might be a legal issue.

I went to the emergency I never had to wait that long I got there around 12:00 a.m. and now its 4:30 and I still haven't been seen plus the registered girl did not give me time to get up to the registration she called my name and then she calls another man's name I told her to hold on give me time to get up there they had too much going on too many traumas a lot of victims people God Bless their family I'm so sorry for there loss ?? ?? they got shot very disappointed and very dissatisfied the reason because they closed the urgent Care at 11:00 they should have kept it open this is in the ER I did not want to sound selfish but I'm keeping those families in prayer it's so sad

I get to express care during operational hours, but the window was closed. No sign, and the people at the other end of hall said that they was suppose to be open. Many people are waiting for the window to open for a long time. Then they come out and say we gotta check in at the end of the hall, where they just told us to go back to the window because it was open. So we all go back, I'm the first in line, but the lady took so long to check me in, that the person next to her checked in 5 people, who was after me. We waited 40 minutes once we did get back to a room. Then they send me to the pharmacy claiming they was sending my prescription in 5 minutes. After 30 minutes of waiting in the pharmacy, the pharmacist called upstairs, just to find out the doctor forgot to send the prescription. I really felt they was being ignorant on purpose, because the saw I had a attitude about their lack of communication and having patients just sitting out there in pain, with no where to go. They was dead wrong, and did not apologize to anyone

I wish I could give zero stars just from my experience with checking in! As a registered nurse, it was actually scary to be the patient that needed to receive care here. When you walk in there is a sign that states for express care pointing to the left and then another sign to check in for appts pointing to the right. I go to the left for express care and the window is shut. I walk to the first window on the right and asked “hi do I check in on this side for express care” and the lady barely was able to look up from laughing at phone and said yeah. As I proceeded to ask another question the lady stated “sweetie I am in the middle of something”! She was in the middle of watching social media on her phone. She was a heavy set black woman with glasses with short hair. I didn’t get her name. But the woman next to that woman’s window helped me and was very nice to me. Phones, social media, etc don’t belong in patient settings. Go on break if you need to be on your phone so bad.

I love the staff and service here but I’m giving 1 star since they can’t bother to update their hours on Google. Thank goodness my mother called to confirm. They’re only open till 5 Mon-Fri. Hope this helps others.
