Great experience at JJ Family Hair Salon! The staff were very friendly and professional. The salon was clean and comfortable, and my haircut turned out exactly how I wanted. The price was reasonable, and the service was quick but still very careful. I would definitely come back again and recommend this place to others.

Although I appreciate the convenience of having a barbershop on campus at Stony Brook University, it is frustrating to leave after receiving essentially the opposite of what you asked for.
If you go here and have a specific style or length in mind, be extremely clear about your instructions and pay close attention throughout the haircut to make sure they are being followed, rather than having the barber simply cut by their own judgment.
In my case, I explicitly said that I was trying to grow my hair out and only wanted my sideburns trimmed. Instead, I left with my hair approximately 2–3 inches shorter, while my sideburns were left untouched.
TL;DR: Be very specific and monitor the haircut closely (make sure the barber understands what it is that you want).
