About Stamford Golf Club
Stamford Golf Club is located in the peaceful Northern Catskills of New York State, offering 18 holes set among rolling hills and scenic views of Mount Utsayantha. Established in July 1897, the course is nestled in Granthurst Park near the Rexmere Hotel. The course's grounds are well-maintained, thanks to a dedicated grounds crew that treats the club as a labor of love. The course features beautiful scenery, with a nice clubhouse and a restaurant that serves excellent food at reasonable prices. The staff, including the pro shop and members, are friendly and welcoming. The greens are in great shape, and although some may find the greens speed moderate, the slopes on the course can cause putts to roll out. The layout offers some challenging spots, such as a narrow tee box, and the fairways may have clover and weeds, making riding a golf cart a bit rough. Overall, the positives like stunning views, friendly staff, and well-kept facilities outweigh the negatives, making Stamford Golf Club a highly recommended destination for golf lovers seeking a peaceful, scenic experience.
I played Stamford Golf Club for the first time and was very impressed. The mountain views are beautiful, the course was in excellent condition, and the greens rolled true all day. It was great to be able to play the ball down everywhere.
The value is outstanding. One thing to note is that the restaurant and beverage area is closed on Wednesdays, so plan accordingly. Overall, a terrific course and an excellent value. We will definitely be back.
Definitely worth the drive regardless where you’re coming from!
Almost a cross between a parkland and links style course. Some of the fairways are fairly solid but the greens are in excellent shape. The greens are receptive and consistent throughout the course but good luck finding flat/level spots to putt from! Lots of undulations and level changes but all the greens roll true. The layout is fun/challenging with a lot of up and down hill shots. About the only golf negative is that 3 of the par 3’s list at 242yds… so we played the blue tees for all par 4’s/5’s and the white tees for all par 3’s (none of us are sub 80 golfers)
