I recently came home from work during the first cold snap of the year and one of my neighbors had their fireplace going. And for me, there's nothing like smell of wood smoke on a cold autumn night. After nearly three years in my new old house, I decided it was time to get my own fireplace going. But before bringing in some wood and lighting it up, I thought it would be a good idea to call a chimney sweep to get the whole thing cleaned out so I wouldn't burn my new old house to the ground with chimney fire. I also wanted to get a chimney cap installed to keep out bats and other critters. I did what I normally do when looking for service providers, I checked Yelp and other websites for reviews, then I asked friends and family. I was able to narrow my search down to three finalists. I called each to talk about my needs and ask for quotes. I ended up hiring Blue Goose Chimney to do my work based on my conversation with the owner, his quote and availability. Carl, the owner, came to my house on-time and performed all of the work quickly and efficiently. We was extremely neat and tidy with his work, which is important when dealing with the stuff that comes out of chimneys. He answered all of my questions and provided my a detailed bill that was exactly what we had discussed on the phone, and a very fair price for the work performed. I was so happy with their work, I will be hiring Blue Goose to come back and do some re-pointing of the mortar around my chimney.
