“This is a long overdue review---We highly recommend Double Check Builders! Double Check completed an extensive renovation of our detached garage, some work done on our kitchen to replace countertops, and 2 bathroom renovations. Matthew and the team are fair and honest and reliable in all of their dealings. Throughout all of the small and large jobs we had done, things went very smoothly. Issues with our 100 year old house come up during any job, and when they did, Double Check was extremely professional with such great communication. In the past, having work done on the house gave me a feeling of dread and you hear about so many bad experiences--with Double Check it's the total opposite. The company gives a feeling of family and down to earth communication, and gives the kind of service which is very rare nowadays. The end result was exactly as promised, but the process of the jobs is also important and went very smoothly too, when we look back on it, it was a very great experience! “We worked with GB Construction on a fairly large renovation which was almost down to the studs both inside and outside and full renovation; full kitchen, hardwood flooring, roof, siding, interior, removed walls, windows, skylights, move entryway, new porch, roof, chimney, fireplace, heat and AC. It was enough work that I probably left a few things off of the list.

I’ll preface this review with a note that I am a moderately capable DIYer and prefer to do my own work because every time that I’ve hired a contractor they’ve not managed to deliver up to my standards.

Working with the team at GB was really easy from start to finish. Gary was thoughtful and careful as we created the plan for the work. Gary made some recommendations and was also willing to adjust plans to meet our vision for the project. Sean and the team doing the work really did impeccable carpentry and Gary’s subs all delivered top-notched craftsmanship. The vendors that Gary referred us to were easy to work with and made the project go smoothly. Jenn and Joanne were also helping from behind the scenes.

Ultimately the resulting job was top notch. GB spared no expense making everything right on our project. It pains me to say it but Gary and Sean did better work than I do and it was the first time that I’ve had that experience from a contractor.
