since renovations, this location has leaned heavily into catering to the weightlifting crowd and left behind cardio, fitness classes, and space for body weight training / stretching. if you like classic bodybuilding and weight training this place is solid, but honestly if u want to do anything else its not great.
they have all typical weightlifting equipment and just added a bunch of squat racks with calibrated plates THANK THE LORD. so now u dont really have to wait to do things that require barbells.
this upgrade has however come at the price of them removing all group classes in the studio which is a major downside especially bc other NYSC locations...read full review
Went in for a quick lift. A lot of the free weights and racks are pretty close to the wall, making it almost impossible to re-rack anything above 10-25lbs. Left weight next to the bench off the pegs due to this. Manager comes over and tells me to pick up my weights(most of which I was not using). I proceed to politely pick it all up and re-rack it. 10 minutes pass by and I witness 2 other people not re-rack their weights. It felt as if he targeted me. Every time I’ve gone here I’ve seen weights not be re-racked. If this is the standard, shouldn’t everyone be held to it?
No towels. Can never find the set of dumbbells I want and there is basic equipment that is never replaced or fixed. The bench seats are only and the D-Handles for the cable machine have been different sizes for the past months. Feels like more of a makeshift garage gym than a NYC. The only plus is the location for Sunnyside residents.
