Where do I begin? When my bridesmaids and groomsmen needed alterations for my May 2021 wedding, I knew there was only one place to go-A Touch of Elegance! Not only is the staff extremely friendly and personable, but they truly listen to concerns and thoughts on the pieces of clothing. I watched as my bridesmaids had their dresses transformed from mass produced garments to beautiful gowns that fit them perfectly! My groomsmen looked like they had custom suits made once Antoinette and her team were finished with the off the rack/ store bought products . There is absolutely no other place to go for all of your alteration needs. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
We all know about the "Miracle Worker" Annie Sullivan, who taught Helen Keller to read, understand, indeed to have a life --- Well, there is ANOTHER MIRACLE WORKER named Antoinette DiPierro, the founder and owner of "A Touch of Elegance French Dry Cleaner" in Pearl River...she is a true phenomenon!! I knew instantly that my father's World War II uniforms and antique paraphernalia were in expert hands the moment I asked her if she could handle vintage fabrics. She replied, "Absolutely! I restored my uncles's entire WWII uniforms and effects." What I did not know at that time is that the New York City Ballet hired her to care for their costumes; that she is highly recommended by bridal shops; and by many, many happy customers. She LOVES her work, and the passion she has for true restoration and excellent, even artistic, dry cleaning is apparent. I brought my father's dress uniforms with distinguished medals, knapsack, kit bag, and even his leather/fleece/wires radio headgear (used in navigating bombers) to Antoinette. They were in a state of mildewed, musty, somewhat grimy deterioration. She renewed them to a nearly new state, each thread of the weave visible on the twills and serge and canvas, with the bright yellow letters of my father's name clearly legible on the kit bag. It was truly a miracle. These items were 80 years old, and would be presentable at any occasion today. This was a gift to my brother, who was overjoyed. He commented that they were now ready for generations to come, to inherit and to share our pride in our father's bravery - as well as in the bravery of the many men and women who risked their lives for us. So you can see, that this was not a "dry cleaning" job that Antoinette did...this was a meaningful act of kindness. She charged me the most reasonable price I could have imagined for the many hours of labor she put in. I URGE you to take all of your everyday dry cleaning to her - and if there is anything special, by all means, she is the only one to consider! Like most small businesses, A Touch of Elegance in Pearl River took a hit during COVID. Being a brand new convert to this wonderful dry cleaning shop, I hope it is with us for a long time to come. Go!! You'll be happy you did.
