My experience with Dr. LaPorta has been deeply traumatic and life-altering. I am leaving a one-star review only because a lower rating isn’t possible. For two years, I received cosmetic Botox injections from Dr. LaPorta without issue and was consistently pleased with the natural-looking results. I referred both friends and family to her, confident in her professionalism—until a recent appointment changed everything.

During my most recent visit, Dr. LaPorta was administering Botox to the crow’s feet area, but during the final injection, something went seriously wrong. My jaw suddenly locked up in the chair, and I was unable to swallow. When I informed her, she dismissed my concerns, stating that she wasn’t near my jaw and that even if Botox had spread to my salivary glands, I “still had the other side to swallow.” She recommended physical therapy and offered no further assistance.

It wasn’t until I did my own research—and consulted multiple neurologists—that I learned Botox carries a black box warning from the FDA, and that difficulty swallowing can be a serious side effect. Had I been informed of this, I might have been eligible for the botulinum antitoxin within the 24–48-hour window after injection. That opportunity has long passed, and for the past 8 months, I have endured devastating symptoms.

I have lost 20 pounds due to my inability to swallow properly. The entire left side of my face remains numb. I continue to suffer from severe muscle weakness in my neck, requiring ongoing physical therapy. My system reacts negatively to many foods and even low levels of environmental exposure, likely due to systemic spread of the Botox. Most distressingly, I have experienced severe memory loss and persistent cognitive issues—I no longer feel like myself. My social life has completely deteriorated.

Despite reaching out, Dr. LaPorta has refused to acknowledge my condition and recently ended a phone call with me abruptly. My experience has been a nightmare, and I urge anyone considering treatment to proceed with extreme caution. Dr. LaPorta may present as professional when everything is going smoothly, but when complications arise, I found her response to be dismissive and unethical.
