About Y7 Studio Upper East Side
Y7 Studio Upper East Side offers a unique, sweaty, and beat-driven yoga experience in a dark, candlelit setting. The studios are heated to 80-90 degrees using infrared technology, promoting a detoxifying sweat that increases flexibility. Classes are paced to the rhythm of varied music, ranging from different artists and genres. The space may be a bit cramped, with limited airflow, and some reviewers mention that staff could be friendlier. It is recommended to arrive early to avoid issues with late entry. While the locker room is unisex, separate changing rooms, bathrooms, and showers are available. Yoga blocks are provided for free, but larger towels and mats are not. The flow of the class generally consists of 3 sets of yoga flows, with options to follow along slowly, quickly, or independently. Music is typically upbeat, with the exception of the beginning and end of classes. Recently, core and cardio segments have been added after the first and third yoga sets, which some reviewers do not appreciate. Despite minor issues, reviewers generally recommend Y7 Studio Upper East Side for those seeking a hot yoga experience different from traditional studios. In particular, one reviewer praises the "Flow & Restore" class and the instructor Christopher B for a memorable and enjoyable hot yoga experience. Another reviewer appreciates the clean and cute studio atmosphere, noting that the only downside is the extremely dark room, which makes it difficult to see the teacher's demonstrations.
There's a lot of one star reviews left recently that I think aren't all that fair. Yes, the staff aren't the warmest, but the person at the front today was way better than typical. He was friendly and helpful. Yes, try to show up early. The room is dark and they are strict about not letting in late comers. Yes, the space is a little cramped and people are packed in. However, I've never accidentally touched the person next to me. You can ask for a small towel (included in the price) for free. Yoga blocks are free. Larger towels and mats are not. You can also buy water. The locker room is unisex but there are separate changing rooms, bathrooms, and a shower. The yoga classrooms are dark and hot. There's not much airflow (done on purpose) and the space is lit by candles. The flow of the class is generally 3 sets of yoga flows and you do each set 3 times: once slowly guided, once quickly guided, then once on your own unguided. It doesn't matter if you can't remember all the poses. The music is generally upbeat except in the beginning and end. I'm not rating it 5 stars because recently they started adding short segments of core and cardio after the first and third yoga sets. I really don't like this new addition, especially since the last core/cardio combo starts after they tell you to lay down on the mat and start resting. I don't want to do mountain climbers in a hot yoga studio. Overall, I recommend it if you're looking for a hot yoga experience that is somewhat different from your typical yoga studio. It was pretty fun for me until they added the core/cardio parts!
I took my first hot yoga class at Y7 yesterday and Christopher B was AMAZING for the 75 min Flow & Restore!! I had a blast, the music and atmosphere were in total sync, he was on top of the flows the entire time with a clear plan of where the class was going, and made me think of some poses I practice daily in a different way. The room was hot as hellll and I was drenched in sweat within the first 10 minutes, but I came out feeling like an unstoppable human being. Will 1000% be signing up for his class again, one of the best hot yoga experiences I've ever had!
Clean cute studio. The room was so dark you couldn’t even see where you were going or where to put the mat so that was the only thing that wasn’t the greatest. I prefer to be able to see the teacher demonstrating where we are. Other than that it was nice.
