I brought my 11 year old Yorkie Terrier mix named Charro to AMC on Tuesday, February 10 at 1am and later in the day at around 9pm.

Charro has been in pain on and off. She ate her food. Then, I gave her Gabapentin. She threw up. I took her to AMC. Dr. Jillian Bastidas treated Charro. She performed a Point of Care Ultrasound, bloodwork, mild dehydrations, negative pancreatitis test.

I was trying to figure out my finances. I first applied for Cherry and then Care Credit. Dr. Jillian Bastidas knew that. I chose Care Credit. She tried to manipulate me into admitting Charro for a $6,000 stay + services.

Dr. Jillian Bastidas gave Charro fluids and Cerenia Injection (anti-vomiting medication). I was willing to pay for services that I could afford with Care Credit.

Although Dr. Jillian Bastidas mentioned that Charro has an abnormal appearance in her liver and an enlarged gall bladder, she never ever mentioned possible Mucocele and that her gall blader could rupture.

Dr. Jillian Bastidas discharged Charro (a toy dog) with abdominal palpitations knowing she has suffered from pain with no basic painkiller and a basic antibiotic. I was charged $1091.

Later in the day, Charro was feeling down. She was in severe pain. I saw it in her face. I returned to AMC, and I saw Dr. Jillian Bastidas again. I had to instruct Dr. Jillian Bastidas to give Charro pain killers and antibiotic. She gave Charro Cerenia (anti-nausea I had to travel back to AMC and waste more money and time. I spent $291 more.

Dr. Jillian Bastidas also told me Charro's bloodwork showed low white blood cells, an infection, and a temperature of 104.04.

Even with humans, if someone is in pain, you give them Tylenol or Ibuprofen.

Charro should not have suffered in pain for 8 hours.

I am complete dissatisfied with Dr. Jillian Bastidas' negligent discharge. She is young but insecure about her diagnosis. She needed to speak to her senior team on the first visit, not the second. AMC seems to be greedy for money.

This is place is the epitome of what’s wrong with the world & a NFP disguising itself as doing good. First of all they went through renovations which was a complete & utter disaster. The way finding was an absolute joke considering this is an emergency hospital. I myself even had to intervene one time when a despaired owner arrived with their pet not knowing where to go. Then they stopped doing all elective surgeries yet violated the medical code by not referring patients/pete to alternate providers during this time. But that’s fine since my pet suffered a heatstroke & I got a casual $15.5k emergency quote. The bill ended up being $7.5k plus, but that has to be greed at its finest. Moreover, they had the audacity to tell me the BOAS surgery my pet could have had - wouldn’t necessarily have prevented the severity of the heatstroke. Something my regular vet vehemently disagrees with. Oh! …& don’t get me started on their customer service. It is diabolical!

I am a nurse practitioner- compassionate and available : always … so Lidia who has hung up on me three times - has ensured I can’t even get basic info for my dog who needs surgical repair for a fracture ….where is the compassion and at minimum - courtesy and professionalism? I am still
On hold - Lidia : you should be fired

Matt was incredible! Took care of our cat who needed some stitches and antibiotics after a run in with an AC unit. Matt was so kind and caring and talked us through everything. Thank you Matt!! The trip ended up being way more expensive than expected (like $900+), and I wish we had known a bit more about the pricing of the procedure beforehand. But at the end of the day our cat needed help and AMC was there for us. We also had a long wait (we were there for around 5 hours total) but that's because other animals had to be prioritized due to being in much worse condition. I'm so grateful for the team for helping our baby! I would trust this place again for emergency care, just be prepared for a large bill (minimum $300+ up front just to be seen). If you're reading this I hope your pet gets the care they need. ❤️

This place will kill your pet. I work for bank of America and I talked to a client and they killed their dog. This lady brought her dog in for a simple check up and 5 hours later their dog was dead. These people people have broken so many hearts, if you really love your animal don't take your pet there

AMCNY is an extremely busy animal hospital, and I am constantly amazed how kind, compassionate and patient the staff is, starting from the moment you arrive. The vet techs are all so lovely. There are not many trusted exotics vets in the city, and if emergencies come in during regular checkups, they will take priority, of course, but all in all, wait times are pretty normal.

My bunnies Flump and S'more have been patients at AMC since birth. Flump is a special-needs bunny (e-cuniculi positive, blind, deaf, benign tumor, FHO, etc.), and I am truly confident that Dr. Brown has helped extend her life time and time again with her patience and expertise. I truly do not know what we would do without her. She is a tremendous asset. Dr. Cott recently helped us as well, and she was wonderful and reminds me of Dr. Brown (the highest compliment I could give a vet!) They are so detailed, patient and determined. There's nothing worse than feeling like a vet has given up on your complicated pet, and I can say with confidence, Dr. Brown has been an advocate for our girls (and a calming presence for my neurotic self!)

If you're reading this and considering an "exotic" pet, please get Nationwide pet insurance from the get go!! Bunnies are especially sensitive, and it has paid itself 10x over between scans, surgeries and medications.

I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! It’s true they might have up to date technology, but they are too insanely expensive! Too greedy! Ridiculous! And they PRESSURED ME so much to leave my pet there! But I did not because of the crazy prices! There are many other affordable places!

I have used AMC for several of my cats, and they have been fabulous each time, from way back in 1995 when they confirmed my first generation cat needed an enucleation (but also that his regular vet could do it) to 2017 where they had my girl Purrsia stay with them until her temporary limb paralysis improved and called each day with an update, to this year when I had to say goodbye to her, and then got good news about her brother Tiggs's prognosis just a few days ago. Throughout, each vet, tech, and front desk person has been so caring and professional, and truly, for emergencies and specialties, AMC is truly the gold (wait! Is platinum better?) standard of animal care.

I can’t speak for my dog but Dr. Sheehan and Dr. Spector have been exceptional in their knowledge and experience in trying to address an emergency concern with my dog. They are clear in their communication and very patient in listening to my very long and paranoid list of concerns. Very happy with the care my pup received here.

Annual check-ups for two rescued Andeluz Podencos. Very thorough exams and follow-up chat with Dr. Choe. Appointments were right on schedule and all staff were extremely friendly and great with the dogs. Received call with lab reports within 24 hours. Well worth the trip from our neighborhood.
