I visited the gynecologist. It was a smooth and comfortable experience.

I have over an hour commute to get here and they turned me away as a no show for being three minutes late when I have frequently arrived and waited up to half an hour in the past.

The counseling service sign-up process is so demoralizing that it'll snap you right out of needing counseling. Incredibly inflexible and judgemental for a service regarding mental health. Also, guess who recommended me counseling? The physician I saw at a SHC check-up who watched me cry after coercing me to do blood work out of coverage as a solution to the issue I brought up, even as I explained that I've had normal blood work all my life. It cost me out of pocket and she, predictably, found nothing wrong and sent me home with that counseling recommendation.
I've yet to have a positive experience at NYU SHC. Walking through those doors is signing away your fate at receiving compassionate and cost-friendly healthcare.

Hi, student from Cohort 2024–2026. I have been experiencing retaliation from the leadership of my department, even though this is not the first time NYU has allowed retaliation in a department, as in the last well-known case of the professor in the Politics Department (case: “NYU’s Social Science Division and Politics Program retaliation department professor Title IX– it is public). I complained to Linda Mills because of the lack of quality in the program, the lack of access to research, and the lack of programs for first-gen students, and now the department is even sending internship offers to students from bankrupt companies (Enron case, 2001).
After the meeting with the director, she was visibly angry and threatened me regarding my fellowship (October 27), and she pressured me to withdraw if I was feeling “so bad,” since I have been struggling with some depression ever since this entire situation started. I went to the Emergency Center at the SHC after the meeting because I was truly not feeling well. The counselor was very understanding, and she did a good job in the sense that she provided the “resources” to protect students and uphold what NYU advertises. After having to ask to record the conversation because the threats involving my sponsor were really serious and I was genuinely shocked, the SHC offered to contact the service “NYU Justice” to protect me regarding the threats from the department (and also other forms of retaliation, such as denying me PhD reference letters, while in other departments I have never encountered such a surreal situation or such a bad state of a program).
I contacted the service the SHC told me immediately, including the Presidential Office, but absolutely nobody did anything. They did not even reply to the email or a call. Nothing. Completely unprotected. Even though the SHC claims to work in collaboration with other services, I followed their guidelines, reported the situation in the department, and the services are just “ghost services” published on the webpage that students cannot actually use, leaving us completely unprotected.

the doctors and nurses are really sweet and amazing, the staff is very rude and inconsiderate, they treat us like we are objects and have zero care. It's also surprising that for these reviews posted by so many people, all we get is an automated, thank you for your review and no solution to this problem.

This place was extremely inflexible for not informing me to arrive 15 minutes prior to my appointment, and then canceling my appointment just 8 minutes after the scheduled time.

The absolute worst, most incompetent staff. You basically have to do their jobs for them. You have to call, do all of your paperwork and then follow up. If you need something on a timeline, you might as well apply for a job there so that it will get done correctly and in a timely manner. Also, you cannot step foot in this place without being "upsold"... more "necessary tests" and referrals. $20 copay for a 10 min visit where you learn nothing and are left with more questions.
