If I could give it 0 stars I would, terrible service, apart from the fact that they demand a lot of money they also want you to pay them cash and when you do they say that you are short of money. How strange that such an expensive funeral home requires cash and doesn't have a bank account ? it just doesn't work ????

Worst!!! My grandfather arrived in a state of decomposition to the Dominican Republic, we could not even say goodbye properly because the funeral home did not prepare the body as it is. They charge you a fortune and don't do things the way they should. You have to report them to the Health Department!!!!!

Very disappointed with the service provided by Rivera Funeral Home during a difficult time to say goodbye to a loved one. Paid for a package that essentially included the bare minimum. This establishment is only interested in money. They overly embalmed the client which resulted in her not even resembling herself and although items were provided in advance time to the viewing, they seemed to have rushed the day of as they prepared her with a noticeable stain on her brand new dress that never was there when the items were dropped off. No flowers were arranged, they actually wanted us to schedule with a florist separately and have them delivered. You're basically paying solely for a viewing while you scramble to do all the work yourself. Avoid this business at all cost.

What a disgrace for this funeral home to be allowed to operate. From being lied to about when they would pick up my loved one to the body arriving late on the day of the viewing to me having to do my loved ones hair since family was in the lobby waiting to pay their respects. Most unprofessional establishment. Please spare yourselves the frustration and anxiety. Do not use this business.

In one of the most sad moments in my life, the people in charge of this funeral home, Mrs. Icelsa and Mr. Rodriguez, were excellent, their guidance, treatment and professionalism were excellent. A while ago we used the Ortiz funeral home on Broadway and everything was a disaster, but here since I made the arrangements with Mrs. Icelsa to the cemetery that Mr. Rodriguez was, his director was incredible, that Lord made sure that no car was lost and the words that he said at my father's grave made me cry with tears. As human as he was, he would never go to another funeral home other than that RIVERA on St.Nicholas Ave.

I hope that this home goes out of business and all its owners, staff, and employees end up unemployed and destitute. As someone who has worked in the industry, I can say that mortuary science is the marriage of art and science in that a body can be recreated to resemble its state while alive. This allows family members the opportunity say goodbye to an image of a loved one as they remembered them. Clearly these incompetent troglodytes missed that memo as they handled said body with all the same care as a football. It didn’t even look like they had applied any makeup and they definitely hadn’t even bothered to cover the scars or injuries to the body. I have no idea who they never insisted on a closed casket at the very least. These heartless deviants went out of their way to coldly say that we just place a last minute baseball cap on the deceased in order to cover this horrific, visible jagged scar on his head well after the family was already exposed. These butchers will never receive a single cent from this family ever again.

I wish I can give them a zero. Worst funeral home. My mother had pre planned her funeral with Rivera. For 5 days hospital kept calling me asking when they are going to pick up body. I kept calling Roel asking him when are they picking up body and everyday was tomorrow. They kept putting us off. We asked can we have 2 days they said No. can we have a pink casket they said NO even though we were willing to pay for it. They didn’t want to do anything. They kept lying to us about picking up the body. My niece went to see the funeral and it was so bad and dirty that I said I can’t have my mom viewed there. The furniture looked like it was picked from the street. I called Riverdale who had good reviews and they picked her up in a hour. Rivera didn’t even want to give us a full 3 hour viewing. They lied and lied. What I don’t understand is why The community lets funeral homes like Rivera lie and provide them with terrible service. I was lucky that I realize that my mom deserved better than Rivera Funeral homes. Funeral homes like Rivera should be shut down.

Was not happy with the overall care of my loved one (Mother) and the way they prepared her facial features such as sagging smile as well as her face, it seemed like the whole service was generic and not at all professional not to mention half the staff didn't speak English, advice go with McConnell don't make the same mistake I did, because it' can't be fixed.
