“I had a successful endometriosis surgery with Dr. Seckin, and I am incredibly grateful I found him.
I had gotten used to monthly period pain and heavy bleeding, but last year something changed. I started having sharp flank pain traveling toward my ovary and down to my leg. Sometimes it woke me up from sleep. Walking and sitting hurt. An ultrasound showed a large blood-filled cyst covering my right ovary.
Other doctors mainly focused on what they could see on the scans. Dr. Seckin listened carefully to my history and asked very specific questions that connected other symptoms I had never thought could be related. Even before surgery, he suspected my endometriosis was much more extensive than what the ultrasound (MRI, and CT) showed. He was right.
During surgery, he fought to save my organs. He saved my ovary, freed both ureters from endometriosis, freed nerves that had become trapped by endometriosis, and removed extensive endometriosis tissue involving multiple areas, including my rectum. Freeing nerves trapped by endometriosis is something I don't think many people realize is even possible, let alone how technically demanding it is.
For me, what mattered most was trusting someone to make the right decisions FOR ME while I was under anesthesia, based on what he actually found during surgery rather than only what appeared on a scans.
I felt a difference immediately. The pressure traveling from my flank toward my ovary and leg was gone. Now, continuing to recover gracefully. :)
