About Narwhal Yacht Charters

Narwhal Yacht Charters offers private sailboat tours along New York City’s skyline. Passengers can choose from 2, 3, or 4-hour sails aboard a classic, lovingly restored sailboat. The charters begin and end at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. Each sail accommodates 6 or fewer passengers and includes bottled water, sodas, and ice. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and alcoholic beverages. A great stereo system allows passengers to sync their own music. The typical route takes guests down the Hudson River past Lower Manhattan, as close to the Statue of Liberty as possible. The sail then continues around Governor’s Island, up the East River, and under the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges before returning to Chelsea Piers. Routes can be customized to meet passenger preferences. The captain is known for his extensive knowledge of NYC history and his ability to create a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. He provides informative commentary about points of interest and is happy to share stories and history. Narwhal Yacht Charters is highly recommended for its unique perspective of the city, personalized service, and beautiful classic sailboat. Many guests have praised the friendly captain who makes the experience personal, seamless, and stress-free, and who is very attentive during the trip. Sailing around lower Manhattan and under the Brooklyn Bridge is often described as a highlight, offering unbeatable views and a memorable experience.

We had an unforgettable experience sailing the Hudson with Captain Eric visiting from Miami. From the very first message, his communication was clear, timely, and thoughtful, he answered every one of my (many!) questions with patience and detail. Eric is incredibly knowledgeable, not just about sailing, but about the city itself. He seemed to know the story behind every building we pointed to, which added a whole new layer to the trip. For our charter, we had the option to sail toward the Statue of Liberty or the Brooklyn Bridge, both incredible routes. Since we had a shorter sail, we picked one, but longer trips allow you to see both! No matter the direction, the views are unbeatable. What really stood out is that Eric is a true local — he runs his own business, he's hands-on, and it shows. This was a special birthday charter for my boyfriend, and Eric made the whole experience feel personal, seamless, and completely stress-free. If you're looking for a private sailing experience that feels both professional and personal, look no further. We couldn't recommend Eric highly enough and would absolutely sail with him again.

We had a wonderful relaxing sail. Eric asked if we wanted to go under the Brooklyn Bridge and by the Statue of Liberty, which would require use of the motor for a while, or do something else. We opted to skip the Brooklyn Bridge since we had walked over it a while ago and there is a park underneath it. So we were under sail for almost the entire time. It's a sailbat, so we wanted to sail, not motor around. We tacked up to the Statue of Liberty which gave us a fantastic view of it. Then we sailed over to Goveners Island and went a ways up it before sailing back to the pier. Eric is not only a very skilled captain, he was very informative and answered all our questions about things along the way and other boats in the area. Overall a wonderful and memorable excursion that we highly recommend.
