I booked the stay through Amex Travel Portal to get the benefits for my stay. When I asked a front desk associate if I needed to pay or checkout with my Amex credit card to get the credits for hotel expenses, and the agent said no, the hotel would automatically deduct the expenses as long as I charged the dining and drinks to my room. Then, after the stay and they charged me the full amount of expenses and then when I called them again to ask about it, another agent said I have to check out with my Amex to get the credits, which is very conflicting. I would recommend to train all associates on these things to avoid confusing customers.

An absolutely beautiful place I was able to not only walk around New York City, I went to a concert at Webster Hall and shop are union sq. the staff were just so amazing! Bri at the front desk took great care of us and the room was spectacular for the price! My fiance and I will be returning next time for sure!

Our experience was a bit undermined by a few unlucky and unrelated things. First of all, minutes after we arrived, a staff member entered our room without knocking while I was in the shower. Pretty unprofessional, but they were extremely apologetic. The AC was also not working, so we had to move to a different room, but they wanted to have an engineer check it so that ended up happening late at night after we got back from dinner. Finally, even later at night, an alarm started going off in the room next too us, waking us up. We called down to front desk and they said it was an alarm because the shower had gotten too hot?? Never heard of that before, and maybe they meant that steam set of the smoke alarm, but then why didn't the whole building go off -- so maybe it was really shower temperature?

Anyhow, those things contributed to making us a bit on edge, and definitely not as relaxing an experience as it could have been. On the other hand, the room was very clean, modern, and cozy, and all of the staff who we interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful. So weirdly I would probably go back, because I just don't think any of the bad parts would be likely to happen again...

I've been staying at the Moxie in the East Village for a few years now and I absolutely love it.
The location is great. Whether you wanna go to the Lower East Side, Soho or Union Square, you can walk or take a train anywhere easily.
And the hotel staff is wonderful.
Nichole, Jimmy, Oshyn, Siarra, and Bri are all incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating.
Whatever you need, something in your room or just suggestion on where to go, the staff is on top of it and ready to help.
It has been my go to hotel for the last 4 years and will continue to be!

Moxie East Village is a great spot in a fantastic neighborhood, but the real standout is the cafe downstairs — and specifically Issy and Yesi. Both of them are warm, welcoming, and genuinely great at what they do. The kind of staff who actually remember you, make you feel welcome, and turn walking through the door into a highlight of your day. Every coffee, every quick bite, every passing hello was better because of them. Hotels live and die by their people, and Issy and Yesi are exactly the kind of staff that turn a good stay into a memorable one. Highly recommend stopping in even if you're not staying at the hotel — and thank you both!

I would not book at a Moxy again unless the rooms were slashed to over 60% off. Mariotte should be low key ashamed of themselves here.

We stayed at Moxy NYC East Village and booked a room for two adults. The website uses very clever language to describe the rooms, but it does not clearly convey just how extremely small they are. We basically played $350+/night (average) to play Tetris with our bodies.

Seriously, because the bed was against the wall on three sides, I had to basically do a plank in the bed and bear crawl over my husband to get out without waking him.

I hope the folks giving this hotel experience 5/5 get the CAT Scans they obviously need very soon.

My husband’s arrival was delayed by two days, so I had the room to myself at first. Even alone, and no joke, I put my key card on the sink (which is in the middle of the main room), and the space instantly felt cluttered.

Once he arrived, the room became constant visual clutter and physical obstruction at the same time. One of us had to lie on the bed while the other got dressed. That’s not an exaggeration, it was necessary just to function in the space.

This goes beyond “small by NYC standards.” The design removes any buffer space, so even basic items create a sense of crowding. The hotel's decor, cute as some of it is, is very specific in its mission to practically disorient you from noticing the unusuable rooms.

The staff were genuinely friendly, helpful, and a highlight of the stay.
However, at this price point, the room size and layout for two adults is unreasonable.

Did I mention my using the room's garment steamer set off the hotel fire alarm because the only electrical outlet was directly beneath the room's smoke sensor?

Loved the Moxy — great vibe, perfect NYC energy. Rooms are small but super smart, nothing feels wasted. The real highlight was Carmen — warm, attentive, made us feel right at home. Highly recommend!

Stayed at this hotel had an amazing, generally positive experience. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were welcoming and attentive throughout my stay. Thank you Christian for the recommendation of places around the area and making our check in and out process feel fast and easy .The room was neat well-maintained and comfortable with all the basic amenities needed.
