Scheduling & Service: While they don't take walk-ins, booking online was incredibly easy and I was able to get a same-day appointment for both a manicure and pedicure. When I arrived, I was seen immediately - no waiting around, which I really appreciated. Quality: It's been a week since my visit and my polish still looks perfect. No chips, no peeling - flawless nails that still look freshly done. This kind of lasting quality is exactly what I'm looking for in a nail salon. Natalia, my nail technician, was wonderful - professional, skilled, and genuinely nice. She clearly takes pride in her work and it shows in the results. The spa was spotless and well-maintained, which is so important for nail services. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of work you receive - excellent value. Feeling anxious about trying laser hair removal for the first time, I chose Mara Wax based on their stellar reviews - and I wasn't disappointed! The staff was incredibly understanding, walking me through the process and ensuring I felt comfortable every step of the way. I went in for a quick chin wax as I was in the area and felt comfortable as I saw that this place had good reviews. However upon getting my wax, I could tell the lady doing it wasn’t knowledgeable in waxing. She did it very quickly, and gave no time for the wax to cool (literally put burning wax straight on my face) and was very rough. She was nice though so I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I really do regret sitting through it all. When I was checking out, Ariel let me know that the usual wax lady was away, and that the lady who just did my wax usually does nails. At that point I knew I had made a mistake. I wish I had known beforehand that the lady who usually does waxing was away bc it seems like the lady who did my wax wasn’t well versed in waxing. I definetly could tell during the process with how quick and rough it was, but I was hoping it would be okay in the end as I never had a bad reaction to waxing. Sadly, I woke up this morning with burns all over my chin. I’ve been getting chin waxed for half a year, and I have never experienced pain and burns until now!! It looks so bad and feels even worse! I’m in so much pain and embarrassed to show my face! The people here are very kind but please be transparent and make sure everyone knows what they are doing. I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else.Service: Chin waxing

I’m not sure how this place is almost 5 rated. Here’s my story-They are called something else - Elite. Nothing Elite about them though.Needed a last minute appointment around my office and found them by a basic Google area search. Good reviews so booked for the afternoon same day.10 min before my appointment (as I’m turning a corner to their location) I receive a call asking if I can come in later as they are running behind. The girl I spoke to said it would be another half hour and we agreed she’d call me 10 min before i can come in. An hour later I called again as she “was texting me” that i can come in.Had a train to catch but granted normal times for a Brazilian i could still make it to the appointment.As i come in - no one in. The place doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned up properly or anything. But hey, not unusual for a place like that in Midtown. So I stay and call the reception to make sure I’m at the right spot (I asked loudly if anyone was there a few times and there was no response). Call is answered with “yes, right spot but the esthetician is alone there so probably doesn’t hear you.” At that point the esthetician (Mara) came out.Service itself - ok. I mentioned a few times the wax was too hot for my “gentle area” - response? That’s normal.All in all - will not come back, not worth the money, bad service. Only 3 stars for Mara cuz she actually seems nice and i feel bad leaving 2 stars 1 is more like it)

Unprofessional scheduling. If you go here be sure to triple confirm they don’t double book you.My tech was stuck in traffic and then the available tech double booked. Receptionist asked if I could come back later and was polite, but it’s nyc not vacation time. Disappointing.
