This place rocks! It’s the best place to get a haircut in New York City by far! Shut them out you won’t regret it. It’s worth your time.

I got my first cut at Mankind on Tuesady, 04/14/26, and am very happy with the experience and the result. These guys actually have people lined up outside waiting for their appointment or a walk-in slot with a particular barber. This shop is humming with five or six barbers cutting in a pretty small space and it’s remarkable to see, hear and absorb the vibe.but I never felt rush, more like the center of attention.
I don’t understand the few people who wrote negative 1-star reviews. They have got to be from crazies, chronic complainers, or competitors. This place, Mankind Barbers on East 66th St. doesn’t match any of their “criticism”
I especially “liked” the mother who said that her son suffered emotional damage as a result of his haircut. I mean, come on Karen, give me a break, emotional damage?. Sure, uh huh, right. Well shame on you Mom for allowing the allegedly offending blow-drying to carry on long enough to actually damage junior’s sensitive psyche. Buy him a therapy dog, that’ll do the trick.

Mike gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had. It was quick, but not rushed. He gave me solid advice on my hair. He’s cute too. Haha

First time here, and it already feels like the right fit.

Mike, the owner, greeted me, confirmed my appointment, and introduced me to Hassan. I was hesitant at first and almost declined, but after a quick conversation and showing him my reference photos, I felt confident moving forward.

Hassan has a warm, positive energy that immediately puts you at ease. He’s clearly skilled with both scissors and clippers, but what stood out most is that he listens and adapts. Midway through, he showed me his default approach for clients with hair loss, but I explained I prefer not to hide it — I’d rather work with it. He understood immediately, adjusted, and the result came out exactly how I wanted.

The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the beard styling — he used a blow dryer to straighten it, but I prefer a more natural, wavy look. Easy fix for next time.

Overall, great experience. Good energy, strong skills, and someone who listens. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Mike, Isak, Matt and team are the best barbers in New York City. They accommodate all of my requests and are always the nicest to my children. They provide the best customer experience and are always playing the best music playlists which makes the experience more fun!

10/10. I’ve got somewhat unique hair and spent a good year looking for a new barber. Wasn’t too happy with the results until I got here. Mike always gives me a phenomenal cut for the ultimate refresh. The best part is, he knows how to gut it so it looks good the day of the cut and when it grows back. It’s also a great local barbershop.. They don’t try to rush you through, and it’s got that classic barber feel. This is my spot now. Highly recommended.
