I will not be returning to this barbershop. As a gay man, I experienced blatant discrimination during my visit that I cannot stay silent about. While getting my haircut, the barber was speaking in Spanish to his coworkers and used a homophobic slur, commenting that the owner should be grateful they were there cutting gay customers’ hair. I understood every word. I sat through the entire haircut in discomfort and left as quickly as I could. I want to be clear — my issue is not with employees speaking Spanish. My issue is with the hateful, derogatory language being used toward customers who were sitting right there. When I tried to get the owner’s name on my way out, the barber brushed me off and told me the owner wasn’t there. No customer should ever be mocked or degraded while paying for a service. LGBTQ+ customers deserve to feel safe and respected everywhere they spend their money. I’m sharing this so others — especially members of the LGBTQ+ community — can make an informed decision before visiting this establishment. I strongly urge the owner to address the conduct of their staff immediately.

Welcoming staff, hands down the best haircut I’ve got. The attention to detail from Mo is next level. I left with the cleanest fade with the sharpest beard lineup and no cuts or razor burn at all. The best start to my NYC trip, recommending to all my friends who come to NYC in future.

I feel very fortunate to have found Mama's Boy in my neighborhood. Always look forward to a fun conversation with Ben while getting a scissor cut, after which I leave looking and feeling awesome. This place is attentive and detail-oriented like no other barber shop I've ever been to. If you haven't yet, you must give it a shot.

Did a walk in on a Saturday and got a great fade! Thanks to Duvalt (I probably spelled his name wrong) for it! Price is about the market rate. They take cash and card and for tips you can Zelle or Venmo. Convenient!
