I recently had Lower East Side Handyman come through, and I’ve got to give credit where it’s due. David showed up right on time, which already says a lot if you’ve dealt with random no shows or delays around here. He came in with a calm, easygoing vibe, got straight to work, and didn’t waste a minute. In a city where everyone’s always rushing, it was refreshing to see someone take their time to actually do things the right way.

Great spot for no frills tailoring! I recently bought an outfit for a special occasion and needed the pants tailored so I asked the woman at the shop for suggestions and she said this was her go to spot. She did warn me that tickets tend to get mixed up, so it's best to go earlier in the day and get stuff done same day. A couple weeks later, I finally made my way to Orchard Express and popped in with my pants. Despite it being fairy busy (a few people waiting to either pay and drop off or waiting for pick up), I was helped fairly quickly and got measured up in no time. I originally came in for a simple hem, but last minute decided to go for a tapering too since the quote was only $20 total. I paid upfront and was initially asked if next day pick up worked. Remembering the advice I was given, I asked for same day service and was told to come back in 40 minutes (no extra charge). When I returned, I handed in my ticket and at first was given a pair of someone else's pants. (To be fair, I was warned about their faulty ticketing system!) Ironically, they have signs saying they charge for lost tickets but I guess that doesn't stop them from losing theirs... There was a lot of confusion and shuffling around until the guy who measured me stepped back into the shop - he immediately recognized me and set things straight. I was quoted another 10-15 minutes, so I popped back out for a quick window shopping excursion. Once I returned, they were ready for me. I was a little apprehensive since this was my first time going to a tailor, but the pants turned out great! They're exactly the length and width I had wanted and look even better than I had imagined. Great work for really affordable prices and it's great that they do walk-ins and turnaround within an hour.
overall a great experience compared to the other tailor shops I've been to in Manhattan. they get most (if not all) garments back to you within an hour, and are very helpful throughout the fitting/marking process. cannot recommend this place more!
