Came on an impulse and asked if they could give me Emma Stone red hair. Laura delivered. She was so nice (stayed after close too!!) and went the extra mile in every way. Did an absolutely incredible job. Could not be happier. Customer for life!

Viviana was great! She knew exactly how to cut my hair for its dry and wavy texture and she gave me advice on every aspect of my hair- highly recommend booking with her!

Just left the salon and I’m obsessed! 🥰 Carlos is a total visionary he always knows exactly what I want and delivers flawless results every single time. It is the best hair salon in Hell’s Kitchen and the staff is incredibly warm and friendly. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair! ❤️

This is basically a love letter to Ivan at Calo 😂. Ivan’s a Genius that within two seconds of looking at me said “you should consider a channel bob”. I looked at him dumbfounded and quite frankly shocked. A bob? Me? Through some visualization process, and after an extremely rough morning at work where I swore I was letting go of all the things that no longer served me — I decided to heed his advice. Let me tell you, let that beautiful soul of a human do whatever he says will look good on you. I’ve never felt prettier let alone more empowered as a woman. Ivan, mi paisa, you are a brilliant master of your craft. I go to NYC for work every year and I will forever make sure to stop in time for a refresher with Ivan.

I have been seeing different stylists in NYC for 5 years trying to get my blonde balayage the way I want it, Laura at Calo is the ONLY one who has given me exactly what I asked for. She did such a beautiful job with my hair and the atmosphere within the salon was so warm and welcoming. You can tell the stylists love what they do and where they work. I will recommend this salon and especially Laura to anyone who asks!

I came to NYC for a total hair transformation, and I am so thrilled I booked this salon! Carlos is an artist—he perfectly tailored my cut and gave me the best foilyage that perfectly fits my style. Highly recommend! ☺️⭐️

I always have the most amazing appointments with Scarlett!! She specializes in color and curly cuts and today I had both done with her. She always takes her time and explains the process before getting started, I trust her completely with my hair and it has grown quite a bit since I got my first curly cut with her. I always leave the salon feeling so beautiful, everyone book with Scarlett ASAP!!

If I could give a 10-star review I would. I had the privilege of having Carlos do my hair (it was in serious need!). He is such an amazing human and his staff provided such a white glove service. From Angel at reception to the assistant. Carlos took the time to give me tips for my hair. He was so funny and made me feel so comfortable. Thank you!! I will definitely be a regular here. I will also be getting my makeup here as well! What I had done was balayage and haircut.

Salon Calo has a friendly and welcoming staff, but unfortunately I felt the services rendered were not explained properly, which led to a disappointing overall experience. A polished greeting can only carry so much weight when the results limp in behind it.

I thought about writing this review for a while, but given the overall circumstances, I felt it was important to share my experience. I mentioned that I was hoping for a better look for upcoming events, and unfortunately the outcome fell very short of expectations.

My first visit seemed fine at the time, and I had a keratin treatment done. However, it was never clearly explained to me that the treatment would significantly relax or remove my natural curls for around six months. Had I known that beforehand, I would have made a more informed decision.

When I returned for a second visit, I asked if there was anything that could be done to give my hair more shape or make it look less flat after the treatment. I was told no, that nothing could be done, which was frustrating.

I also had a color service that unfortunately did not last or stick as expected. In addition, I was charged $70 for a clean-up on men’s short hair, which felt excessive for the service provided.

The staff was pleasant throughout, but clearer consultation, better expectation-setting, and more transparency on pricing would have made for a much better experience.

I appreciate the response from Salon Calo, but I want to clarify a few things from my side because the experience still doesn’t sit right.

First, I did think carefully before posting my original review. Given that I had upcoming events and specifically mentioned wanting a better overall look, the outcome unfortunately fell short.

Regarding the “blowout” mentioned — that service was only booked because I didn’t see a clear option that matched what I actually needed. I essentially booked time, not a specific service, and was ultimately charged for the services that were performed. That part is fine, but it highlights the lack of clarity in how services are presented and communicated.

On timing, I arrived on time for my appointment, but the service started about 20 minutes late. During the appointment, I was also left unattended for periods while my stylist worked on other clients, without checking in to see if everything was okay. That made the experience feel rushed and a bit impersonal.

As for the results, my hair color did not come out as expected and didn’t last properly, which was one of my main concerns from the start.

Lastly, while I understand the explanation around not recommending a perm after keratin, my concern was never strictly about getting a perm. I was simply asking if there was anything that could be done to improve the flatness caused by the treatment, and being told “nothing can be done” felt dismissive rather than solution-oriented.

Again, the staff is friendly, but better communication, clearer service options, and more attentive client care would make a significant difference.
