I am a long time advocate of flotation and I have floated a few places. Most recently I was a client at Zephyr - I decided I needed to make a change. I am so glad that I did!! I wish I had tried floating at Mountain Float Spa before. The Facilities were clean, large, and clearly Spa standard. Many options for first time floaters to feel comfortable such as keeping lights and music on. The buoyancy was the best I have experienced anywhere. Recommend Highly.
Absolutely horrible…. This was my first time floating. I live in Kingston and was going to go to Zephyr Float, but they weren’t open so I decided to look up where else I could go on google. MFS was the other place semi close to me that came up so I attempted to call to try to make an appointment. It says they open at 10 so I called at 10. No answer. Tried again multiple times and finally got someone to pick up the phone at about 12. She said there was only one appointment left for the day for an hour float at 3:15, so I decided to take it but before I did, I verified that I would be getting 20% off as per the special on their website and the woman said yes. I have very bad anxiety and need to destress as much as possible and from what I read, this was going to help me. I got there and there was another customer just finishing up. The girl at the desk was very polite and bubbly and she went to get my room ready once the other customer left. It took her less then 3 minutes to do what she had to do and then we went in the room for her to explain everything to me. I honestly felt nervous taking the rubber shoes they make you wear off because it seemed not very cleanly. I was nervous to get into the tank because of this but I have read, the salt would kill any bacteria that lingers. I did what I was supposed to do and got into the tank. It was not for me and I sat there stewing in my own thoughts for about 45 minutes until I decided I couldn’t do it anymore. It was so hot in the room that I felt sick and couldn’t get my clothes on easily after showering. I went out and the girl at the desk asked how it was, I said it wasn’t for me and she said she felt the same way and she seemed very upset that she had to charge me the full price and just seemed uncomfortable. I said “$60 right because of the discount?” She proceeds with “oh no, I’m sorry. I called my boss after your phone call and she said that we aren’t doing that anymore” I said well… I only brought $60 in cash with me. She then said “okay, I’ll write this down and you can call tomorrow and pay the rest over the phone” …. Are we KIDDING????? You’re going to make me call to pay $15 when YOU HAVE IT ADVERTISED ON YOUR WEBSITE FOR 20% off. By no means am I looking for a handout. I can absolutely pay for the service I signed up for but this just put a bad taste in my mouth. Meanwhile Zephyr Float in Kingston has a “work to float” program allowing people to do some work for them to float and a “pay it forward” float where people can pay extra so that people who can’t necessarily afford it can float as well. Where is the community here??? There is none at MFS. Never will I go back. It is not updated. Not cleanly and I honestly just feel disgusting…
