On April 28, 2026, my friend and I had scheduled appointments at the Massage Envy location in Farmingdale. What should have been a relaxing and professional experience quickly turned into one that was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.
Upon arrival, we were not greeted by the front desk staff. Instead, we were handed a tablet with no acknowledgment or basic courtesy. Shortly after, I was called in by a male staff member who failed to introduce himself or present himself in a professional manner consistent with a licensed massage therapist.
Once inside the room, his behavior became increasingly concerning. He lacked basic professionalism, avoided eye contact, and made inappropriate and confusing statements about “fight or flight responses,” and suggested that I could leave if I felt uncomfortable. This was deeply unsettling, especially coming from someone in a position that requires trust, safety, and professionalism.
At that point, I made the decision to end the session before it even began and returned to the lobby. When I attempted to address my concerns with the front desk, the same individual interrupted me, displaying further lack of respect and professionalism.
The situation escalated when the manager, Alexis, became involved. Rather than addressing the issue appropriately, she dismissed my concerns by attributing the behavior to a “language barrier.” Instead of offering an apology or resolution, she defended the employee and ultimately told both myself and my friend to leave the premises. This response was not only dismissive but completely unacceptable from a managerial standpoint.
As someone who has visited numerous spas both locally and internationally, I can confidently say this experience did not meet even the most basic standards of customer service or professional conduct. The environment felt more like a disorganized office than a reputable wellness establishment.
This experience raises serious concerns about staff training, professionalism, and customer care at this location. No guest should ever feel uncomfortable, dismissed, or disrespected in what is supposed to be a safe and relaxing environment.
I strongly urge corporate leadership to review this incident, evaluate staff conduct, and implement immediate corrective measures.
This experience was unacceptable, and I would not recommend this location to anyone.

I see Michelle for facials and other skin care services. She's wonderful. She explains everything and is very kind and patient. I've been getting massages as well for many many years. Every therapist has been great. Front desk staff also friendly and efficient. The facility is always immaculately clean. Highly recommend.

I am extremely disappointed in my experience with this location.
I am a new mom and booked my first appointment here back in December. That appointment was canceled on me because the provider was unavailable. I recently decided to give them another chance and scheduled a new appointment.
Instead of a confirmation, I received a voicemail stating that due to “past incidents,” I am no longer permitted at this location and that if I show up, they will contact authorities.
I have never been to this location. I have never received services here. I would have been a brand new client.
I called twice to request clarification and was hung up on both times.
Being falsely told you are banned from a business you have never visited — and being threatened with police involvement — is not only upsetting, it is deeply unprofessional.
At the very least, this location owes me an explanation and an apology.

I have been going to Message Envy for several years now. Alexis is the manager she really helps me by explaining the services and scheduling that works for me. The team providers are professional and knowledgeable I love the convenience and services offered. Enjoy the self-care and give yourself an hour or more, maybe even a spa day!

Massage itself was good and therapist is talented. Place itself overall was OK. Therapist barely said hello to me, felt rushed and cold. When asked about safety of products given medical condition, response was rude. Facility was fine - but I have a much better experience always at hand and stone.
Also they didn’t honor my $40 promo that did not have any exclusions marked on the card. They said service needed to exceed $150 but it didn’t say that anywhere.
