“I am a 73 years old retired airline Captain cum instructor pilot / examiner.
Despite more than 50 years of driving experience in various Asian countries, here in the States is completely different world.
Honestly there was a steep learning curve for an old man like me to catch them up all.
I underwent road test on my own in May 14, 2026 and obviously I failed badly that first attempt.
I immediately came to realise that I must take proper driving course at reputable driving school.
After intensive research I found the right school in Eastchester.
When I arrived the school, the front desk manager lady was very friendly and listened attentively to my issues and my objectives.
She assured me to assign one of the best instructors in the New York Auto School exclusively for me.
In this way Mr. Mario became my driving instructor and he taught me, inspired me and fixed me for four consecutive days.
Honestly speaking he was an exceptional instructor with vast knowledge and skill and most importantly kind, patient and motivated.
Without his superb teaching skills, guidance and easy to remember driving tips, I wouldn’t have passed the road test conducted on June 26, 2026.
My deepest gratitude goes to my instructor Mr. Mario as I owe him a lot.
Besides I should mention about the training vehicle provided by the school.
Using the right car is extremely crucial in road test.
The provided car by the school was the right size, not too large and nor too cramp but very much student friendly.
No challenging at all for the inexperienced student driver on various phases of test like driving, changing lane, turning, parking, backing etc.
lastly but not least I would like to say thank you to the front desk manager lady for assigning me Mr. Mario.
This is old man honest review and hope it will help for the parents who are looking for a good school for their kids in this summer time.

“Mr. Advani is such a great teacher. I’ve learned so much from him over the last few months in drivers Ed at St Catherine. He always showed us exactly how to fix our mistakes. Which helped me a lot. I really liked that we practiced parking and 3 point a good amount of times and drove all over the Bronx so I could get used to different areas. “My husband and I both had a really great experience with this driving school and would absolutely recommend it to anyone learning how to drive. From the beginning, the whole process was very organized and stress-free. They were always helpful with scheduling lessons, answering questions, and arranging the road test. My husband took lessons with Chris, and I took lessons with both Chris and MacGyver. They were all extremely patient, professional, and encouraging. They gave us many practical tips not only for driving safely, but also for parking, maneuvering, and feeling comfortable and confident on the road. They explain everything very clearly and really make sure you understand what you’re doing instead of just memorizing things for the test. The scheduling was also very flexible, which made it easy to fit lessons into our busy schedules. They offer different lesson packages depending on your needs, and it’s easy to add extra practice if needed. Having the road test organized for us also made everything much less stressful.
On the day of the road test, MacGyver, the owner of the school who accompanied us to the test site, was incredibly helpful and supportive. He took the time to go over the testing area with us, explain common mistakes people usually make, and review important things the examiner pays attention to, especially regarding stops, parking, and three-point turns. His calm attitude really helped reduce the stress and made us feel much more prepared and confident.
We also want to mention how amazing all the girls working in the office were. They were always so kind, patient, welcoming, and smiling every time we interacted with them. They made the entire experience feel much more comfortable and positive from start to finish.
Overall, we had an amazing experience and are really happy we chose this driving school!! We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for supportive and knowledgeable instructors.“
