“My wife and I were looking to get our first tattoos — our first child’s actual footprint. We didn’t want the typical baby-foot outline or silhouette you usually see. We wanted a true wet-ink-to-paper transfer of our child’s footprint. We searched for a shop that felt right and an artist who had the knowledge, skill, and, most importantly, a commitment to cleanliness.
I first met Steve at his shop in Kings Park (possibly the original Tormented Souls location) about 14–16 years ago. I knew almost immediately that he was our guy, and we booked our first appointment. I still remember two things from that day: how meticulous Steve was, and the level of care he took to make sure everything was perfect. Oh — and one more thing: the band practicing in the basement of that building. Wow.
Two more baby footprints and a couple of personal pieces later, my oldest sat in Steve’s chair just last week. I wouldn’t have recommended anyone else for the job, and I wouldn’t have put my own child in anyone else’s hands. I was impressed by Steve 14-ish years ago; today he’s truly mastered his craft.
Steve isn’t just an exceptional tattoo artist — he’s also a designer. He’s built and patented a tattoo pedal and a workout-enhancing device. His mind is incredible. If you’re thinking about body art, I strongly suggest at least meeting with him and talking through your ideas. Even if he isn’t the right fit for you, he’ll educate and guide you toward reaching your goals. Perhaps suggest a person from his team.
When I first met Steve in Kings Park, it was just him. Now, in East Northport, he’s built a team of equally talented professionals. While none of them worked on me or my family, they deserve mention because they support Steve every day.
