Solar yoga ashram has the most intergrity of any yoga studio that I have been to in NYC (I have worked at one, and been to upwards of 10). After mending knee/hip injuries for two years that were partly due to careless yoga instructors at popular studio in Brooklyn, this is the first instructor I have stuck with for more than 2 months. Arturo is very kind, attentive and knowledgeable. The 3 segment practice style allows for a balanced mix of gentle cardio, meditation and yoga poses. Classes are always small and class packages are an incredibly reasonable price - especially for Park Slope. I highly recomended attending a class!

Solar Yoga is back! I began my journey towards becoming a hatha yoga teacher here years ago, and I sorely missed it when it went defunct for several years (long story). Now Brooklynites again have a welcoming and non-intimidating yoga studio with, for now, small class sizes near both Fourth & Seventh Avenue subway lines in the Slope. Whether you want a kick-butt cardio workout or soothing, gentle asanas fit for beginners, you'll find it here--even within the same class. Principal teacher Arturo, the kind, perceptive, and dedicated yogi who most inspired me to teach, offers a wonderful deep relaxation complete with Tibetan singing bowl. Find me at 6:30 a.m. class before work (shower available.)
