So I'd just left an African Braiders' salon and was told that in order to have my hair canerowed (corn-rowed) I'd have to come to them with my natural hair already blown out. Strange, I thought that was what I would have paid you for. I was looking forward to braids and feeling dejected I crossed the road. Uhhhh, here's another Braider, Sharon's Unisex Salon! I peeked through the door and a woman smiled and waved for me to enter so I walked in. I met Lisa (Lecia). When I explained to her what I wanted Lisa said "no problem". She did an amazing job with my hair and the style I requested. Also, I felt like I was having my hair done by my homegirl even though Lisa was professional. Her energy/personality is beautiful. The only thing I didn't like is when my hair was fully dried the following day, I noticed a few gel patches. I was able to remedy with a damp cloth but I wish we could have avoided that. I conveyed to Lisa that I don't use gel in my hair but she showed me the type she used which said 100 natural with no alcohol. I cannot in all certainty say if this was indeed that same product in the tub. Also she did use a lot of hair mouse and a bit of holding spray before she put me under the dryer so be mindful of that when you visit. Like I said, it was a small fix and I'll know what to ask for next visit. Full disclosure, the salon isn't fancy so if you're after that sort of thing.... I'm big on energy. Especially of anyone in my personal space. I felt totally at ease and though I cringed a few times while she made my hair more manageable, it wasn't aggressive or excessively painful. In fact a few times I felt some massaging effects which I sure did apprecilike. I'm "tender-headed" and with my 4Z hair I usually leave salons in near tears. That's why I haven't been to one in years. Not this time. I 100% recommend LISA. The salon has about seven booths and she's number four.
